Why would you possibly want to breed her?  Do you realize how many millions of unwanted rabbits there are out there that have been dumped or rescued from horrible conditions that need homes?  The rescues and shelters are bulging with unwanted pets.  In fact you should spay your rabbit for the health of her and so that she does not contribute to the overpopulation. First of all most of us here are advocates of housing our rabbits inside for many reasons. They are very social creatures once given the chance to be a part of a family and most importantly to be protected from predators and weather. They need exercise time outside of a cage and good quality food.  I see from the picture there are probably nuts and fruit in the pellets.  That is just added junk and she should be fed timothy based pellets, unlimited hay, fresh greens and an occasional sliver of fruit.  Please read everything you can under Bunny Info above.  I do not mean to come down hard on you but I do want you to understand the responsibility of having a rabbit. It’s not just an animal that is housed in a hutch somewhere in the backyard.  That would be tragic.

You should really look around this site and all the others online. They have wonderful information and can help you understand your new family member. Check out the links section, that helped me a lot in understanding all of the care that goes with these balls of fluffy attitude.

Most of the people here are very passionate about their rabbits… they don’t mean to be mean but….. they’ve seen the dark side of what can happen to rabbits given as presents and then forgotten outside for months.

Ask lots of questions, look around and remember to give your bun lots and lots of nose and cheek rubs.

Baby bunnies are CUTE but did you know that rabbit’s are the third most euthanized animal in north america? There simply aren’t enough homes for the bunnies that are already made. Plus, it’s even harder to find homes for mixed breeds. I would STRONGLY STRONGLY suggest that you don’t breed her.

She is beautiful! How come she was given to you? As a gift?

erm.. also do u know u are feeding your bun the wrong food? I can see the one with all the bits in, it should just be pellets really, its better for them

Awww thanks for all those commets i an grateful as ive near had a rabbit before,my friend didnt want this rabbit anymore so she just gave it to me and the food is wot my friend was feeding her already.

i have brought a indoor cage now so she is inside with us now

and i give her lettue and carrots too and i got a small bag of pellets too which i give her

 

and think i wont breed  and we have named the rabbit now she is called maisy

Ok you know you also have to give your bunny unlimited timothy hay right? That is the MOST important food of all. Also carrots should be fed sparingly and only a sliver. They hjave too much sugar. Please read Diet under Bunny Info above to see the full list of acceptable greens. There is so much to learn but you have come to the right place!

Awwww Maisy – what a pretty name!

We will make sure you and Maisy are set up right! This all sounds very new to you, but you are in the right place! First things first, as suggested above, you must get Maisy some hay. Rabbits have very delicate digestive systems and need hay to keep their tummies clean and healthy. Timothy hay is what she needs. Check your local petstore for some, or, depending on where you live, there might be a farm nearby that sells it. Just make sure it is Timothy hay and not alfalfa – alfalfa is too fattening…

Next step, look into getting Maisy spayed. This will help curb her hormones and make it a lot easier to litter train her, not to mention being beneficial to her overall health.

She’s a beautiful bunny!
Starting out is hard, and I wish I had known about this website when I needed it starting out. Very caring, informed folks here will get you set up for a great life with your new family member.

You could look on Wikipedia, under List of Rabbit Breeds for descriptions of all kinds and some pictures.
It looks like she doesn’t have red eyes, or I’d guess she’s a Florida White. Where did your friend get her, a petstore? Usually they are mixed breeds and hard to identify (petstores never have that kind of inflo. and often don’t even know their correct age).
Best to neuter Maisy when the vet says she is old enough. If you need to find a good vet in your area, the House Rabbit Society website provides listings of vets who specialize in exotic pets (how they are listed if you do a search) in different parts of the US – not sure about the UK. She really should visit the vet for a basic check-up and an idea of when to plan to have her neutered.

maisy is about 6mths old and i got her from a friend and she got her from a local pet shop.

i did a search for rabbit vets in my local area and there r a few so thats good

Where are you located in the UK?  We have a number of UK members, so they might be able to direct you to good vets, food brands, and/or good supply sources.

We had a gorgeous rex (Trigger) that had brown eyes, brown eyelashes, white fur w/ a brownish tint in places.  I’m wondering if yours might be a rex?  But I don’t know much about breeds.

Also, its essential to spay your girl.  Rabbits are very prone to mammary tumors.  This medical condition can be avoided by spaying/neuter your rabbit.

There are a number of regular members on the rabbits united forum who live in and around Bristol, so if you post a message on their with regards to vets they will point you in the right direction! I am pleased that you have decided not to breed, if you go on the site you will see how many rabbits there are waiting for new homes as a result of irresponisble breeding. It will hopefully give you a different perspective on keeping rabbits in general and of course here you will find out how to care for your new bunny! I think she is very pretty and I love the name, one of my buns is called Maisy too 🙂

I am glad you’ve brought Maisy indoors.  As you can tell many of us are very protective of bunnies and get bent out of shape about breeding and outdoor living, so I am very happy to hear that you’re not planning to breed her.  Bunnies are so social, that they really enjoy being part of the family.  It is not uncommon for bunnies of her age to be exhibiting hormonal behavior – things like being territorial about her cage, nipping and such.  the good news is that once she’s spayed, she’ll be much happier and will calm her behavior and improve her litterbox habits too. 

I just looked online and it appears that Bristol has the FIRST all rabbit clinic in the UK!
