Hello everybody! I recently switched my bunnies over to timothy hay pellets instead of hay. The Timothy hay pellets aren’t the high protein ones that bunnies aren’t supposed to have often, they are the same thing as timothy hay in pellet form. Anyways, I’ve been thinking of switching my bunnies’ litter from paper pulp (like Carefresh) to wood stove pellets. I’m wondering if my bunnies will become confused because both their food and litter will be in pellet form. Do you think they’ll try to eat their litter, and if so, will this be harmful?

My buns don’t eat their wood pellets. They know the difference simply because pellets don’t smell like wood pellets, so I wouldn’t worry.

How come you’ve switched them from timothy hay to timothy hay pellets?

Oh yes I missed that, bunnies need unlimited hay 24/7 to wear down their teeth

Is it the Sherwood blue bag they’re eating now? In either case, even if they’re not great hay eaters, they should always have access to fresh hay for dental health reasons. And if it’s an allergy issue, try orchard grass or oat hay instead of timothy.
