I have seen some of you post that you like them? Where do you get them at? Does it hold odor as well as YN? Are they kinda of heavy like YN? I tried aspen and carefresh but they are to light that it flings everywhere!!!  Are the wood stove pellets cheaper then YN? I thought about combining them to make the YN last longer!!

Wood stove pellets, and their bretheren the barn stall pellets, are extremely inexpensive.  I can get a 40 pound bag of the pellets for 8 or 9 dollars.  The pellets themselves are large, about twice the size of something like Yesterday’s News or Cat Country.  I still prefer the Aspen Supreme pellets because they control odor better, but I use the stove pellets as well when I can find them.  I get them at either feed stores or hardware stores when they are in season.  The Aspen pellets also compost better than than the barn stall pellets, but at 3-4 times the price, I find a way to use the cheaper ones too.

I love the wood stove pellets.   I have never had an odor issue at all using them.  You can get them at lumber stores or probably places that sell wood stoves.  I’d call around or do a google search.  They are so cheap.  Here they are 7.99 for 40 lbs.  I actually tried Carefresh and I did not like it at all because it always smelled like wet paper and it does fling around. Maybe a mixture would be good.  The rescue here uses the stove pellets too.

they come with or without accelerant. you’d want the ones without. i don’t remember where you live… do you have feed stores or tractor supply stores. i think they have them there. if you clean the box out frequently, you shouldn’t have a problem with odor, regardless of what you use.

i found a few hardware stores that sell wood stove pellets… but they weren’t in stock because of being off-season.  haven’t checked a horse tack store yet though.  i love the idea of saving $$ since i’m using yesterdays news pellets right now.
