I am a new bunny mom and new to this forum.   I am needing to order Timothy Hay.   I have been doing a great deal of reading and researching.   I noted someone stating they were not real happy with the last hay they ordered from  #%###   (I don’t want to put a company name here as I understand this company is a very good company to order from ……..  I can only assume maybe due to the drought last year ….maybe the hay from out west is dryer and not at it’s best right now).   I found a farmer in New York I am thinking about ordering from.    Has others found northern hay to be better at this time?    Shipping is expensive, so I wanted to order a good size box … and I wanted to get some input from experienced buyers before I order.    Thank you for any help in this area.

The hay sold here on this site is premium quality.  They store it in air conditioned facilities so that no rodents get into it and even better it is pesticide free.  Those things are important to me.  Binky Bunny is very picky about the quality and she will reject it if it does not meet their standards.  You can’t go wrong here!

I buy either from this site or Oxbow hay. So far, I’ve been very happy with every order.

we’ve had hay discussions before.  i think the drought had a big thing to do with the quality of hay.  i’m hoping next year it will be better.  the binky bunny hay is really great.  that doesn’t mean my bun eats that much more of it, but she’s not a big hay eater at all.

I found hay on ebay yesterday, 1.99/pound ( I think that’s cheap!!) with shipping being pricier, BUT they offer 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th cut and they show you pictures of exactly what your getting….so if you don’t mind getting dinged a bit on shipping try ebay…I haven’t ordered yet, am waiting for payday, but it looks awesome!

Besides American Pet Diner (2nd cutting timmy), I like Farmer Daves and Kleenmama’s (2nd & 3rd cut).

Thank you everyone for your responses !    You all have helped me a great deal.  My first purchase was the Kaytee Bag from local pet stores … but my bun was wasting more than she was eating.    I was considering the small bales from BinkyBunny and “hay by the box” from Farmer Dave in New York.   I wanted to see if anyone has tried the hay from Farmer Dave.  Member “Sarita” has and left a note above.  Thank you Sarita.   I did not realize Farmer Dave had a website.   I had seen his listing on Ebay.

Thank you Sarita …. I was considering Farmer Dave previously …. I am glad to learn you have purchased from this farmer and liked his products.   I will now try his Timothy Hay.   And thank you for his website … I did not have his web address.

I was going to order from him once and they would not ship to California!

Correct, he can not ship to CA ….. because he does not use pesticides on his hay …. and the state of Calif. will not allow the hay into the state without pesticide use.

By suggestion of one of my friends, I started giving Warren the Sweet Meadow Farm Timothy, and he loves it. The hay is always soft and sweet smelling! It is grown in Massachusetts, but they appear to ship all over.

Thank you Staja …. I went to  the Meadow Farms website …. and they also sell the Timothy Pellets.    (But I noted it is expensive to ship the pellets).

I also noted Meadow Farms do have their products in pet stores ….but only up in the Mass. area.   My son moved to Boston last summer …….I will have to ask him to slip a bag of the pellets in his suitcase the next time he flies home.   Ha Ha !        I am in Georgia.    I have marked Meadow Farms on my list and I will give them a try.  Thank you so much for letting me know about Meadow Farms.
