Well tomorrow I have an appointment with the vet and I am so happy that the vet I LOVE is back at the clinic by my house!!! Daffodil’s eye is discharging an inoordinate amount of what I would call watered down milk. I am afraid that she might have a bacterial infection in her eyes (no nasal discharge) or even a tooth problem (but she is eating A-O.K.). So we’re doing a culture tomorrow and an annual check up for them both. I am a little worried about my baby. I washed out her eyes with saline yesterday and administered drops and she seems a lot better, but I want to be sure what it is. She is prone to allergies and so I worry about her a bit more as she is the more delicate one as far as health goes.
aww, hope your delicate Daffodil will get a good report and you’ll find out what’s going on with her eye.
I wonder if it is her allergies? It must be a relief that your favorite vet is back and so close to home.
let us know how things go…
Thanks gravehearted.
I do wonder that too, but they are due for their annual check up anyhow and yes, you can imagine how relieved I am that my favorite vet is back! That is the reason I left the clinic in the first place because she wasn’t there anymore and she is the only competent one with rabbits. I’ll let you know what she says.
I’m glad you are having an appointment with a vet you love and trust – that is so important.
Vibes that all goes well with Daffodil.
Thank you Sarita! ![]()

aww poor daffodil ((((((vibes))))))
have you had the appointment yet? i’m curious to know what course of treatment she’ll get.
baby’s eyes are still runny even after first ciloxan and then gentocin drops. it’s not a bacterial infection – she has had a course of antibiotics tho it was for a possible urinary infection – and her teeth & appetite are fine. she doesn’t have a nasal discharge either. it seemed to be clearing up when i first started the gentocin drops but i think it only seemed that way because i was also washing her face 3x/day with a warm damp face cloth & massaging her tear ducts. i’m thinking also that it’s allergy related since i noticed a big milky tear after she came from eating hay.
Thank you so much everyone, it means a lot!
I just got back a little while ago from the vet, I went ahead and had her do a physical exam of both of them and a more intense exam on Daffodil. The eyes are fine now. After I irrigated them out with saline on Sunday, the issue resolved itself and the vet said that was the best course of action for me and that having done that very well could have resolved the issue. She felt that it was allergy related, but I told her I was concerned and wanted to bring her in because she had never had an allergic reaction like that and she agreed that while it was really odd and definately not normal for it to be white, everything is back to normal. A mystery indeed but they are both happy and healthy and the vet just loves them to bits. ![]()
YAY! Glad to hear it went well! Kisses to Daffodil!
Yeah!!! Great for Daffodil!!
Good news that all is ok.
Thank you! You all are so kind!
oh good! that is nerve-wracking!
Beka, it sure is.
Oh Whew! Good news!
Thanks Binky Bunny it sure is! But still a mystery…the vet thinks it may have been a blocked tear duct as I did press against the lower eye area and it flooded out and I washed her eye out with saline. So odd…it looked like watered-down milk, which is definately not normal.
