I made a post about this bunny in The Lounge and you know what, I still can’t get over him and want to do what I can for him.

At the Wisconsin Humane Society, Ozaukee branch, is a nine year old bunny named Sox. They say he’s a Dutch/ American mix but he’s quite small and I wouldn’t be surprised if he had some kind of Polish or other small breed in him. Adopting or fostering this little man is completely out of the question for me as I live in apartments that don’t allow rabbits at all, and even my own baby is living back home with my parents. If anyone here is from or knows anyone near south-eastern Wisconsin looking for an older bun to foster or adopt, it might put my aching heart to rest =(

OMG he looks like Darkmator’s twin!!!!!
DarkMator is only 4 lbs too. And this whole time I was thinking some sort of tiny rex rabbit.

          AWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
I’m actually pretty close to this guy but already way in over my head with my 5.

I am so sending prayers/best wishes his way.

ETA: I just looked up Polish rabbits and DM looks just like those too so I think you may correct in your suspicions.

            He IS precious!
I would adopt him in a heartbeat if I could. I hope he finds a lovely family!
Keep us updated with any news you hear on him.

              >.<

I came back and looked at him again….I even Google mapped that location. Double >.<
It’s much further than I thought.

Mental note: I’m not allowed to come back into this section again. >.<

Believe me, I know. =( I keep checking his page to see if he’s still there or not. It only makes me think of irresponsible ways I could take him in, which is the worst idea in the world if I want him to have a non-stressful life with me *sigh*

He’s adorable! I wish I could adopt him, I live in Waukesha county, but I can only afford one rabbit right now :/ But I will for sure spread the word around that he’s available.

And I know it’s sad to see such a cute bun in need of a good home, I always check Waukesha’s shelter HAWS to see how the buns are doing. But you are doing a great thing by posting his picture and helping him find a home

I think Sox has been adopted!!! I kind of want to call to inquire to be sure, but I don’t want to seem weird or sneaky about it…. but his page is no longer available and he’s not on the listing for the available pets anymore! I sincerely hope he’s found his forever home!

I would call and ask!! There’s nothing weird about that.

I came back to this thread again with my hand over my eyes, haha.
I also kicked around posting my view of things with landlords…I am an owner/landlord for some apt complexes but I’m a small private business, not a huge company where someone calls and talks to a manager or receptionist. They talk to me or hubs. A manager or person who is not the owner is following rules they have to abide by.
                        With that said….

I don’t allow pets in my apts. When a person asks about a pet, I immediately say no. The person will then continue on telling me about the animal anyway but if they don’t (they do!) I would ask- just for curiosity after saying “no”.
IF I really, really have a good feeling for the person, approve of the small animal and one particular apt happens to be open, I will then offer a negotiation.
If someone has a small animal, are really responsible and clean with it and want to keep it bad enough and have the means…it’s a shot to look into a smaller rental company where you can negotiate with the owner directly. I know others that *do not take pets* but will also make exceptions occasionally with a rental unit they feel maybe isn’t as nice as the other units and/or the person is willing to pay a small pet fee.

The problem with pets, and I know this from first hand experience unfortunately, is that one pet such as a cat or dog, can completely destroy a brand new unit and when that happens we will be out the repair money. People who care enough to compensate for the damage wouldn’t have let it happen to begin with. :/
1000’s of dollars in carpet, wall trim, heater/vents/AC’s, etc.

I am so hoping this bun got adopted, that makes my heart happy.

I want to call so badly, DbQB, but I’m also terrified about the other outcome…

I know what you mean about apartments =/ My first apartment was exactly like what you do, where he said no pets, but allowed my roommate to get a cat when he asked (I never asked about my bunny in that apartment). In my current apartments, though, they allow cats and small dogs, but “no exotic pets”. In my opinion, a litter-trained rabbit is essentially a cat that is caged when no one’s home that won’t claw at doors or baseboards, chew maybe, but that can be stopped since they’re supervised… But I asked the landlord personally about a “caged, litter box trained rabbit” (he doesn’t need to know I let her out when I’m home”, and he flat out said “well it says in our policy no exotic pets…”

Bah. My rabbit is better than any cat in these apartments anyway.

Hmm….If I work up the nerve to call I’ll only post if it’s good news.

Pondering your landlord and how to approach him. He has a policy but he wrote the policy and “exotic” can be subjective. Wonder if he would allow a hamster.
Bending a rule can be tricky if other tenants find out so he’d be mindful of that likely…but since he allows cats and small dogs, he has the door open already and frankly- cats and dogs are far scarier. Cat urine is impossible to get out of an apt and a dog can tear up a door or carpet like non other.
                            *Thinking*
