I noticed that Muffin’s fur has been becoming darker as it’s getting cooler. And somehow it’s even softer than before! Here you can see the difference in the shedding. If you guys have pics of your bunny’s fur changing colour I’d love to see. 😀

I read that the fur is supposed to get lighter in the winter and darker in the spring. But I feel like it becoming darker in the winter makes more sense to attract heat.
Lol kinda looks like one of those sequin pillows that flip to change colour.

          😃

This could be a temporary effect of the undercoat and the guard hairs growing out separately.

Here’s an old pic of my bun Yohio, mid-shed. The fur that grew out first was a deep peach color that was very beautiful.  When all layers of hair had come in, his color was back to the normal yellow.

I don’t really have pics, but early summer shed for Dorian had a lot more greige to his usual grey, with a couple patches around his neck that were definitely closer to a beigy color than grey. I don’t really know if his color went darker this summer, may have a bit, his coat makes it that it looks different in different lights so I am not sure when I compare photos if it’s just the lighting.

Also Muffin looks so squishable in those pics! I am sure she wouldn’t approve though 😀

And I really like Yohio orangey coat.

Thanks guys! Yeah it seems like his undercoat and I’ll watch and see if it gets lighter again for winter. Fluffy boy!

That’s so cute Bam. I find it so interesting to see! That looks very similar to how Muffin’s coat is shedding right now. Super cute. <3

princedorian hmmm that’s interesting. My muffin has some very light grey fur that also looks beige sometimes. And I know, he’s my squishy little guy!
