        Hi,

We got Buster a few willow balls from Rabbitmart.com (I originally said busybunny). We gaver her a tiny one last night and she tore it apart already. They are obviously safe, right? But do they last long and is it normal for them to tear them up? Has to be….

Yes it is normal for them to tear them up – that’s the fun!! And no worries – they are safe. My buns play with these all the time.

What I do is collect the bigger pieces and tie a bit of bunny safe rope around them and make an additional toy for them.

Cool! Thanks! What is bunny safe rope?

What a great idea Beka! I would just let them keep chewing on the big pieces until they turned into little tiny pieces and then throw them away. Will definitely give that a try.

So there are these tiny little balls inside the willow. They seem very unsafe! They were 3 on the floor and i’m not sure she ate one or not! How are these little wooden tiny balls safe for them????!! I’m so concerned now.

And she’s swallowing the pieces of the wood/willow from the ball that she tears up. This is ok? Thanks.

Are the mini balls in the willow a big nut by any chance? If so eating nuts is a no no for bunnies.

untreated, undyed jute or sisal string is a safe to use.

I dont think they were nuts. They were tiny small wooden balls. I just cant understand how they are safe for bunnies and made for bunnies.

I don’t recall anything inside the willow balls that BusyBunny sells. At least all of the stuff we resell does not have that and I know the owners at busybunny, they wouldn’t put anything inside of the balls that were unsafe. Can you provide the link to the particular product  you are talking about?

And I forgot to add. The willow itself is safe for the bunnies to eat.  Willow is actually a good fiber source.

I’m still curious about the little balls inside.  I’ve never seen or heard of those being inside of the willow balls.

Yeah, I don’t know anything about little wooden balls… please post the link for the product.

From the above link… it looks like the Busybunny and Binkybunny willow balls, but the ones we get don’t have any balls in them.  The description says that the small ball has a bell inside…

there were at least 3 small woodenish balls inside the 1.5″ one. They weren’t bells. Anyway, the other bigger ones I got seem better.

Regardless… as long as you took them away. Some petstore sell the woven grass balls that my buns really like, but I rarely ever get them b/c they always put bells inside. When I do buy them, I immediately cut a small opening and remove the bell before giving it to them.

Right, that is the Ware Brand. You said you got that from BusyBunny? I I know that they do sell similar willow balls but like Beka said there is nothing in them. Could it be just a mix-up. Did you order from another place as well? Because if you got a ball with little balls inside, I can contact BusyBunny to double check with them to see what is going on.

I practically buy the willow balls by the gross at my local Pier One store. You should see the cashiers face as I place 25 dollars worth of willow balls on the counter.

There is nothing inside them. They each last about three to four days depending on the ferocity of the chewing.

I just use Sisal for rope – I just made a new “spiderweb” of sisal across one of their tunnels, with some cardboard circles from the maze haven. They have been busy ALL day Chewing, chewing and chewing.

4 of my 5 buns LOVE the willow toys. Our best time for a large ball is Pringles:2 days, a small ball: 2 hours. And there was nothing left but little twigs, they do have so much fun with those….lol

Ok so now another bigger, 4″ size one I got from Rabbit Mart definitely has walnuts inside of it. How can they sell that if its dangerous?
