Eventually he may, but expecting it in two days is definitely premature. It will take some time, so be patient and balance both practicing and stressing him out too much.

Have you seen an exotic vet yet? You could potentially ask the vet to file the nails.

Hi, Sky! Welcome to the forum.

As a rule, bunnies don’t like to be held because they are prey animals. When they are on the ground and we swoop down to grab them, it is reminiscent of being snatched up by a predator! Over time, it may become more manageable to hold your rabbit. However, your rabbit will be happiest if you only pick them up when it is necessary. I suggest laying on the floor and cuddling at his level. It much less scary for him!

              Hi Sky ,
Like BunNoob, said most rabbits don’t like to be held. And some bunnies do.

Also you said you got your bunny a couple days ago, you need to get your new friend to trust you. Let him relax and get use to his new home before you try holding him again. Lay on the floor and let him come to you and explore you. It will build trust and reassurance that you won’t hurt him. You can try holding some pellets in your hand and getting him to eat out of it.

I have had my rabbit for a couple of months and we have a great bond. But she just doesn’t like to be held , she also claws at me. But she will sit in my lap and give my kisses .

Panda and Fernando have been living with me for something like 4 1/2 months now and they definitely still don’t enjoy being picked up, though they do tolerate being held reasonably well when I need to do it. I have to take them for their nail trimmings this weekend so hopefully I’ll be able to chivvy them into the carrier without having to pick ’em up!

Ditto, joe. I’ve never had a bunny enjoy being held but most are good and will let me hold them for a few minutes when needed. I only pick them up when necessary. I did have one little girl bun who, even after 8 years, remained terrified when I picked her up.
