Probably impossible Too light. Dogs-heavy dogs with big claws *can* but usually they don’t. If your bunny got to furiously digging on the floors maybe but not normal bunny running around-should be fine

          Congrats and Welcome!

My experience with hardwood floor is that pretty much anything will scratch them. I would not be at all surprised to find little tiny bunny scratches on mine. More of a worry for me is the occasional pee puddle causing staining!   But really hardwood floors are like new cars – you know that sooner or later it’s going to get that first scratch on it.  It’s easier to refinish hardwood though!  lol

We got ours refinished two years ago and then adopted bunnies. They can’t scratch them up anymore than anything else would (vacuuming, walking, furniture, etc) even with their intensive digging in the corners.

As a side note, when the bunnies came home, I switched from using pinesol to vinegar (pour a little, 1/2 to a full cup, in the mop bucket) for mopping. I didn’t want to risk them licking something that may be toxic.

If it is bad quality, you might risk it although I doubt it, since bunnies don’t really carry that much weight that should be sufficient to put enough pressure on the nails to scratch the floor. However  it won’t happen for sure if it is a really good quality. We have hardwood floors in the kitchen and it has survived a dog and one bunny (the other two won’t enter the kitchen because of the floor). We are moving into a new place with hardwood floors and I’m so excited ’cause that is the easiest floor to keep. Love it!

I guess that the best type of flooring ever for pets is limed timber floor. That’s my experience at least.

And by the way, welcome to the forum – and yes, bunnies are fantastic pets

Vinegar’s better for your floor anyway.

My house is all hardwood (no laminates), save for a few rugs here and there.

I’ve found that the rabbits are, indeed, too light to do any damage. There was only a little damage done when we first moved into the house and that was from one of the rabbits digging at the wood, but even then, it’s very superficial and is easily polished away.

The rabbits haven’t caused any damage to my hardwood floors either – they’re too light, and for the most part their nails don’t impact the floor when they’re running around (at least not nearly as much as dogs do). Most of the time they run on the soft bottoms of their feet and unless their nails are due for a trim I can’t hear them clicking on the floors at all.
