I read online that painting my bunnies home with boric acid and water will keep the spiders away. Will this hurt my bunnies?

Couldn’t you just sprinkle boric acid around the cage so the spiders will have to walk through it? From what I find it won’t kill a spider immediately on contact.
Your bun should not be in contact with the powder and not be able to lick at the boric acid, maybe you can paint the inner roof of the cage where your bun can’t reach?
