I was wondering if it is normal (in your experiences) for bonded bunnies to hang out all the time, eat together, sleep side by side and play/explore together? Or do they often do their own thing?

(by all I mean majority of the time and not every waking second )

        Thanks in advance!

My bunnies have only been bonded for about a month (so I’m not sure if it will continue getting stronger), but they do not stick together like glue.
They always eat together (but that’s because they’re not going to give the other bunny all their food!! – greedy bunnies haha!)
Sometimes I see them in the litterbox together and sometimes they’ll snuggle together, but typically during the day when they’re napping, I see them in their own space (one will be in the tunnel haven, and another in the cottontail cottage)

They are out and about 80% of the day – at least 8 hours, so they don’t always explore together. But even their cage is 32 sq feet, so they are not ever forced to be stuck together.

Mine aren’t stuck together but they’re never too far apart and they keep tabs on each other.

If Moshi heads down the hall for playtime and Marlee doesn’t follow, he goes back to get her. Also, last week at the vet, Marlee was in the carrier and the vet had Moshi out –Marlee thumped (loudly) until her Moshi was safely back in the carrier with her!

Mine sleep side by side at night but during the day they prefer to relax apart! They eat together but tend to zoom and binky about on their own.
Whenever i clean out their area they both team up to try and nudge my ankles away!
Although they spend a lot of time apart they keep tabs on each other and whenever I pick one up to brush their fur or for a cuddle the other will start looking for the missing bun and become concerned but other than that they’re pretty independent!

We have two pairs of bonded buns. Bruno and Harley are inseparable. They do everything together, from eating to exploring. They are definitely attached at the hip. But Caesar and Roxie are not so close. They groom often and eat together and use each other for pillows, but most of the time they hang out apart. I guess it just depends on the personalities of the pairs.

I think it definitely depends on the personality of the buns/pairs. My bonded buns Skipper and Ian like to do many things together but will separate when they feel annoyed with one another. Which it is mainly Skipper that facilitates this split. XD So I would not make assumptions as to how they might be. ;P

Thank you for taking time to tell me your experience!
I understand it will be different for every pair, but this has really helped by just showing that it is normal for them to spend time apart also. I always just see photos of bonded bunnies together and it looks like they’re joined at the hip, so it’s good to know it’s also normal for them to be independent! I don’t mind what they do, as long as they’re both happy

Totally normal for them to do their own thing sometimes!

Even humans who obviously love each other need some of their own space from time to time! I think it would drive my husband nuts if I was constantly at his side (and vice versa!)

It depends on the bunnies I think. I have two pretty autonomous bonded bunnies. They do eat together, mostly because they’re hungry when they get served food, but otherwise they like to do their own thing. During the afternoon, they sleep in separate areas, one likes to sleep by the toilet and the other in my bed skirt. But then in the evening after they get put back in their pen they’ll usually lay next to each other on their shelf. So it really depends!
