I was mowing my lawn with my corded lawnmower and as I was about to start on my back yard the cord got caught on the bush in my front yard.

I tried whipping it in an upward motion so i wouldnt have to walk towards it and manually unwind it but it didnt work.

Just as i was unwinding it from the bush and walking away I somehow noticed a wild rabbit laying under it..Im not sure how I noticed it but I did for some odd reason.

The rabbit was breathing but very lightly. He didnt seems physically atacked or atleast from the side I could observe.

Its been really hot this week in Michigan and I was thinking maybe he was dehidrated? I got some water and oxbow pellets and placed them in front of his head. I ran some water on his face and he seemed to move his head but it was probably just from shock.

Anyways Im pretty bummed out right now. I think Im going to have to collect his corpse tomorrow

Im still praying for him though.

I’m sorry you had to see that. How very sad. I’m hoping bunny hopped away by the time you go out there.

            How sad, poor little bun.
He could have died from anything, shock, heat, poison, etc Such is the life of a wild rabbit, so not fair. Or maybe he lived and is back at being a wild bunny.

Here is a link on finding wildlife – http://www.wrn.bc.ca/found_wild_animal.htm

I have had many people bring me wildlife, mostly baby cottontail bunnies, we have a few wildlife rescue facilities in the area, it’s always best to take them there if the animal is in distress. These people are trained to help the animal, and rehabilitate it as well.

Well guys I went back out yesterday afternoon and found him dead.
I hope he didn’t suffer long..I Just cant get the sight of him laying there barely breathing out of my head.

Its weird, I just moved here a week ago and my rabbit was still in a state of shock not knowing where she was or what was going on. She’s finally adjusted. But starting my first week off by witnessing one die and then having to dispose of him is kind of strange.

Good news is that I just looked outside and i saw 2 others out on the sidewalk. One was cleaning himself and the other was just chillin next to him lol. They should have a busy day as the weather is getting more acceptable and no rain

I think im gonna try to find some spots to throw some oxbow pellets out for them this weekend. Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear he died. Maybe he was old and lived a long, happy life before, who know?

sorry to hear the bunny passed on, there could have been so many reasons but I know it’s upsetting for you.

                    ((((soft bunny hugs for you))))))

Oh that’s sad. I would not put out pellets for them – they need to learn to survive with what they have as they are wild rabbits.
