“Wild” Park Bunny turns House Rabbit

My BF’s opinion on my “feral” rabbit, Robbie–

BF:  “That rabbit was NOT out in that park for a year!”
Me:  “But they saw a bun just like him living in the same hole.”
BF:  “I bet he wasn’t out there 2 months.”
Me:  “He has HEALED scars on his eyes from being in the wild!  He was there long enough to make friends with 2 skunks!”
BF:  “In fact, if I didn’t KNOW you’d seen him out there for a week-and-a-half-straight, I’d say he hadn’t been wild for even TWO DAYS!”
Me:  “Hmph.  Just because he’s COMFORTABLE!  Maybe I’m just the Bunny Whisperer!”

BF:  [Look of disbelief]

He’s a total cuddle-bunny.  He hops up on the couch, and if I don’t pet him fast enough, he hops behind me and bites at my back!  (Ok, we don’t encourage the biting, but it’s nice to know he likes the attention!)  I thought I was catching a wild-thing, and got a couch-rabbit!

Aw… he’s so cute!!!! Looks like he’s taking over the house, like a real house rabbit!!!!!

Yep, I’m keeping him. Miss Lizzy will just have to learn to like her new boyfriend. (They haven’t met yet, but she suspects that I’m hiding something from her, and HIGHLY disapproves!). His neuter is tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Awww he’s so adorable! He’s definitely taken to home life huh!   That’s how my cat is.  She was apparently in a feral cat community before we got her.  She’s the most couch potato of a cat that I’ve ever known.  She’s an extreme priss too and is impecably clean.  She won’t step foot outside unless we’re out there with her and she spends most of the day sleeping in my little dog’s bed.  I can’t believe she was ever out in the wild!

people think that bunnies are cute innocent little animals.  But is is clear that this bunny has a clear plan of household domination and has already instituted it by displaying affectionate behavior and cute bunny flops.  The whole park thing was obviously just a small glitch in his master plan of living in a household that values bunny comfort and nose rubs.

It is so cute to see a bunny be so RELIEVED to be inside and be loved.

In the not too distant future………..

Scene: A bonded Robbie and Lizzie louging together on the couch.

Robbie: “Back in the day when I was a park bunny I didn’t have those yummy pellets delivered to my home daily.”

Lizzie:  “Park bunnies have to go get the pellets for themselves?  That sounds like alot of hopping” ::looks impressed::

Robbie: “Well Lizzie, there are no pellets for park bunnies.  I didn’t have any pellets at all.  I had to hop 5 miles, uphill both ways to find breakfast.”

Lizzie:  “No pellets, you can’t be serious, how did you survive?”  ::looks horrified and disbelieving::

OH how happy he looks.  What a good life. Beats the park.  He has already taken over your living room.  He doesn’t have to work for food anymore.

I can see bunny on sidewalk with a sign…..  Will work for  head pets.  and throw in some pellets will you.  I will be a good bunny promise

LOVE the dialogue KatnipCrzy! Actually, when I first got him, he wouldn’t eat pellets for 2 days. Looked at them, and then looked at me like, “Why are you giving me litter in a bowl?” Now, he LEAPS at the side of the pen and lands in the bowl as I try to give them to him! He scarfs them so fast I scatter half of them around the pen/litter box to slow him down!

Of course, he leaps at the side of his pen for EVERYTHING. Greens, hay, treats, head scritches. I wouldn’t be surprised if he learned how to climb up the pen one of these days. You should see him in the morning when I give him greens and new hay in his litter box–he can’t decide which way to turn because he wants ALL OF IT RIGHT NOW!

Don’t know how he survived in a park. Spoilt greedy piggy boy…

There is a cute bunny in the tank at my local PETCO who reminds me of Robbie and Sarah’s Binkles. Those agoutis really have a lot of character and the one I saw, he has HUGE hind feet, I’d swear he’d been wild!

Ah, C&C and MimzMum, thanks so much for your post!  I had a CRAZY week last week, which resulted in 3-4 hours of sleep a night, and NO BINKY BUNNY TIME!!  Grrr! 

And I got your posts after an all-nighter, then an opening night party where I was supposed to be playing-nice with rich patrons, but was useless because 2 glasses of wine was enough to do me in, and then as my poor boyfriend was trying to pour me into the car to take me home, your messages popped up on my cell phone, and I was all weepy over my lovely BB pen-pals from afar!  (Confirming the BF’s suspicion that I’m a little nuts!  No, not really.  Although he just joined an EMT forum where EMT’s trade geeky medical- and patient-jokes, so he now can’t roll his eyes about MY forum-fun!  Unfortunately, this also means I can’t mock him for his geeky forum…I mean, they joke about blood and guts!  Ick!  There’s no cute bunnies ANYWHERE!  Seriously, the two aren’t comparable!)

Anyway, I LOVED having purple hair when I was in college!  I had flaming PINK hair that was so fake and shiny that it looked like My Little Pony hair for awhile, too!  I’ve toned it down since grad. school because I figure I’m supposed to look like an adult.  Sigh.

My DJ was a feral bunny for the first 6 months of his life, and now he is a super spoiled cuddly house bun. i think sometimes they just know when they have it good.
