so I just got a bunny because I moved into a house by myself for the first time and I was a little lonely of course I did tons of research that’s why i’m concerned I was told that bunny’s are very energetic and such but when I got my little lionhead rabbit I noticed that she didn’t like to hop and run around a lot she liked to get on the couch cuddle and watch movies I was told not to keep her with other rabbits because in the past she was mean but she seems so sweet and hates to be alone so she will hop up in my bed at night anyway she never runs around or anything she always follows me around the house most of the time and lays and watches movies or when i’m working she will lay by my feet until i’m done she has plenty of toys like apple sticks and chews a bought 300$ worth of cat bird and rabbit toys for her I even made my own she has free roam of the house when i’m with here and when i’m gone I put a baby gate up and put her in my room of course me and my roommate have the exact opposite schedules so someone is always home with her anyway she isn’t very active and i’m concerned about that is it normal or no she seems really healthy but Ii don’t want to take her to the vet if its nothing also any tips for a first time bunny owner I would LOVE tips on potty training anyway I am very new to the rabbit stuff but love them so I just want to make sure she is fine she has all access no matter where she is to food and water I have food and water dishes around the house with hay pellets water in a bowl aswell as in a bottle and she eats and drinks fine I just want to know if thats normal

(Sorry for the bad English I am originally from France so my English is pretty bad haha)

Hi and Welcome to the wonderful world of rabbits.

A few questions to help get a better understanding of your situation. How old is your bunny? How long have you had her? And is she spayed?

She’s pretty dependent on you partly because she went home way too early. Most buns are being weaned around 6 weeks, and still shouldn’t be going home until 8 weeks. So often when a baby is taken from their moms too early they can become really dependent on their owner and look to them for a lot of what they would in their moms.

Really? The girl a bought from was a pretty well known breeder in my city she said that the rabbit was a perfect age to go to a new home and that she was already weened and everything

Hi and welcome and congrats on your new bun!

8 weeks is the recommended age here where I live, but what’s customary vary between countries. A bun is typically weaned by week 6 and separated from its mum, then stays with its siblings for two more weeks before it gets its new home.

Rabbits have different personalities, some are more active than others. That a bun likes to cuddle on a bed is not a sign of illness. Many rabbits are very cuddly when they are babies, then that changes when puberty hits at around 3-6 months.

Here you can find tips on how to litter train your bun:
