Why is their blanket always wet?

I just got two rabbits a month ago and when I’m at work or sleeping I keep them in a pen with a blanket on the floor as bedding.  Before I switched them to a litterbox with higher edges, they were leaving accidents near the litterbox (this has stopped), and sometimes they spill their water bowl, but I’ve noticed that even in areas where they haven’t left a mess and their water bowl isn’t even near it, the blanket is wet.  Any ideas as to why?

How wet is “wet”?

My only suggestions are spilling water bowls/dripping water bottles

Or they are grooming the blanket, but that wouldn’t make it very wet.

Are they fluffy? If they get wet by spilling water they can track it around (I have an angora, so she’s pretty fluffy and she thinks it’s funny to flip water bowls and sit in the puddle and try to drink it at the same time, lol!)

Are you sure that it’s not pee on the blanket? Rabbits do like to lick cloth, sometime to excess. I thought that my rabbit had peed on the sofa once, there was such a big wet spot, but then I saw that it came from her licking the cushion. Sometimes rabbits can drip water from their chins after drinking from a bowl. You also need to make sure that one or both of them isn’t drooling, which could indicate teeth problems.

You didn’t mention your rabbits’ genders and how old they are, and if they are spayed and/or neutered. If they are bunnies and you are not sure about their gender and they are 3 months old or more, they should be separated to prevent unwanted litters. Then after their surgeries, they can be re-bonded. Even if they are both the same gender, they should be spayed or neutered to prevent fighting and for health and behavioral reasons. Don’t just rely on what you were told. Many people have been told that they had the same sex rabbits, then they were later presented with a litter.

Ahh it was cause I was giving them freshly washed veggies and the blanket hadn’t had a chance to dry yet. They are male and female, both spayed/neutered. The vet mentioned he could tell the female was indeed spayed.
