Hey all, my darling Cleo is having trouble where her poo keeps clumping to her fur, making a ball and smelling very bad.
I cut it off when it is an issue but it keeps happening, I live rural so don’t have any vets nearby that specialise in buns, and the vet I saw didnt really help and was very vague. I was hoping that maybe someone would be able to help?
She has a constant feed of hay and pellets and get treats such as carrot and bok choy about once every day or two. She is a healthy weight too.

        Thank you!

She may need more hay in her diet. This usually helps firm up the droppings and keep them dry.

Is she eating a normal amount of hay and veggies? And they poops are the regular size and not too wet right?

I assume it’s the cecotropes that are clumping and sticking to her bum? That means that she is overproducting them and they are also possibly not formed properly. I would go back to basics, keep her on just hay for a few weeks. If she improves, add pellets back in. How many pellets do you usually give? It sounds like they’re unlimited which is often reccomended for young buns but in practice isn’t always a good option because too many pellets = not enough hay consumption so if you need to cut them down, don’t feel bad.

If she is okay when you reintroduce pellets, you can start introducing leafy greens again. Carrots I would avoid as it’s very high in sugar, much like fruit.

What hay do you give her btw?
