I’ve made one other post on my bunnies aggression, though we recently got her spay about 2 weeks ago. I’ve heard that they can have some crazy behavior so I just wanted to bring this up.

Molly has been very attention seeking with me as of late. Tonight while I was giving her the nightly pets she was acting very strange. Almost like she was having a panic attack but when I would pet her, she seemed to calm down and would return to her regular breathing patterns. She would lunge at my hand when I tried to pull it away but did not bite or scratch when I just let it hover in front of her. When I left her area and just sat near her pen she would binky. But then when I walked away and returned she was loafed with her ears back and was making a whining noise. I gave her the pets and sat near her for a bit and she flopped on her side by me but she still seemed a little tense or stiff. I can imagine she is itching to get out an play but the vet instructed me to give it a couple more days as she’s likely to get the zoomies as soon as I let her out, she is very high energy bunny. I’ve also noticed some tooth grinding and she is what seems to me, stress eating? She’s going threw her hay alarming fast and literally eats all her veggies in one sitting as fast as she can. I plan on calling the vet tomorrow to ask about her behavior and the noises, I will bring her in if needed but it’s a 45 minute drive to the nearest vet. We are actually planning on moving to a bigger city to be closer to care options as I hate stressing her out so much for a vet visit. We did take her to our local vet before the spay but they said they didn’t see anything wrong with her, and I know they don’t really have a bunny specialist on hand. I’m just a little worried and concerned so any help is appreciated. I’m so new to this and her behavior has changed so much after the spay. Thank you for any tips or advice 🙂 I can imagine my vet is tired of me calling at this point, but I just want to make sure she is recovering smoothly.

What you’re describing is not common behavior following a spay, but it isn’t unheard of. Does she seem normal otherwise? Pooping OK? If she otherwise appears to be fine, I would say it is probably premature to take her to the vet. They can’t really do much for this. You just have to ride it out, which could take 6 to 8 weeks.

Yeah so honestly it kind of felt like a panic attack to me. Or maybe she was displeased I left the area. I know she’s getting pretty bored so I cycled her toys and that helped a little. She hasn’t done any whining since last night but I also spent all night with her. We are pretty nocturnal. Her poop is a little on the soft side but the vet told me this will be normal for a couple weeks. She didn’t have hay in her diet at all before we owned her and we did introduce it like 6 months ago when we got her. But she really only began eating it at a normal rate after her spay. Before she’d just kinda pick at it. Thanks for all the help!
