Hi you all again!!! Ok, so here’s the news: After a lot of searching, I finally found a place where they offered me two different types of hay, I am not sure which one I shoulkd feed my bunnies: 1) hay, the one used as bed for horses. 2) ‘pasture’, they told me horses are fed this, it is a mixture of alfalfa plus other types of vegetables, they could not specify exactly which.

Which one should I buy instead of alfalfa, so that Baileys does not get his poopy bum anymore?

        Thank you!!!!

The pasture hay may be a mix of alfalfa and grass hays so that might be the best pick. Basically, if it is horse quality feed then it is ok for rabbits too. Plus, Baileys already used to alfalfa, it might help transistion him having a bit of it in this hay mix.

The horse bedding hay may actually be straw and not best feed option. If you could find out a bit more about it that might help. i.e. type of hay – grass, oat, wheat, barley etc etc

What is the one used for bedding for the horses made up of? The other seems mostly alfalfa, so i don’t think it would have the desired effect if you are trying to get your bun off of the alfalfa hay

Hmm…well of the two I think I would personally use the pasture one. Sometimes you are limited by what you can get so you have to go with the “lesser of the 2 evils” – not that either are evil. Straw is not a bad thing but I don’t think it’s offers the nutritional value that even alfalfa hay has.

Thank you all! I think I’m gonna go for pasture, since the hay used for the horses bedding is pure straw, not very nourishing, i guess. I´ll keep you updated!
