I think in general, the best toys are the home-made ones because they’re cheap, recyclable, and you can use things you’d ordinarily recycle anyways. You can also cater it what your buns find enjoyable. Wick really likes climbing and jumping, so I set some boxes up for him and make it a treat-incentive task to climb up and down it.
To make pellet feeding more interesting, I cut two paper towel tubes into 4 tubes, all of varying heights, and cut all long the top and smooshed it so it looks like an upside-down straw fringe hat. I pour the pellets into each of these so Wick has to throw them out of the way to get to food, haha.
BB user BanditCamp (hopefully he reads this!) has a lot of great home-made toys for his bun, Bandit. He uploads all his photos to a one-drive link, so you can check it out and see what may entice your buns.
In addition to paper tubes, you can use boxes from shipping, shoes, packaging, etc.! If your buns are chewers, just be wary of any dyes that may be on the materials you use.
Happy crafting!
