My husband wants me to price out grids & supplies to make a condo.  I was wondering what the best deals are?  Thanks guys

I recently saw them at Target for about $12 a box, but I think they were on sale. You might want to try there or Walmart first.

Target had the $12 sale a week or so ago.  Check sales – a lot of places put their “organiz-y” things on sale in January

I also buy mine at Target, I’m not sure if the issue with the larger sized grids was resolved or not? Just beware when you buy them that the grids are the smaller about 1.5″ by 1.5″ and not the ones that are the large squares (like 3″ squares).

Also, figure into your cost the cost of some type of flooring for the condo (I use cardboard zip tied to the grids) – a covering for the flooring (I purchase my carpet squares at Big Lots for very cheap) – and if you are going to build multiple levels, you’ll have to purchase some round dowels to support the different levels. Also, don’t forget zip ties

Thanks guys!    As soon as it stops snowing here , I’ll get to target or walmart and look for them.  I found this website and love how they set it up, so we might try to follow it.  Here’s the link: http://www.rabbitcondo.com/   The plans are under “click here to download the booklet”.

We’ll probably wait awhile to build it when we have a little more money saved.  Just trying to price everything out so we have enough money.

I don’t know if the issue was solved, but I’ve been able to find the good ones.  Just look at the picture, very, very carefully.  You can tell from the line diagram whether they’re the small grids or the large ones.

I looked them up online and both Target & Walmart were about $24.  But they might have a sale at the actual store.  They looked like the grids were small but I’ll make sure when I see them in person.  It’s still snowing!!  I don’t think I’ll ever get out of the house, I think they said the wind chill is -10 and tomorrow it’ll be colder.

the online brand is different than the in-store brand and it should be about 10 bucks cheaper than online…

Awww good point Beka. I know Bunnytown found them in the salvation army or some kind of thrift store super cheap but that’s probably not usual.

I got two boxes of grids for $20 total at Bed, Bath & Beyond ($15/box plus a $10 off $30 or more coupon).  I don’t know if they have the coupon running currently, but it seems to show up regularly if you’re able to wait for it.

BB & Beyond always has coupons running, and they accept expired ones as well! i should know, i shop there enough! you might also pay attention the the grid count. some stores carry grids for 6 cubes, some only for 4… so there would be a difference in how many you got as well.

                              Here’s the link for BB& Beyond: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=1&SKU=13652600

Are those the smaller ones?  BB&B is about 45 minutes from me, where do you get coupons, email sign up?  We don’t get BB&B ads.

You can sign up for their email list, but the coupons are different from the mailers (but that’s not a bad thing).  I’m not sure, but you might also be able to sign up for the snail mail list on the Web site.  If not, just remember to do so if you ever make the drive to the store.  Like Beka said, they’re known to accept expired coupons; just spend some time on the Google and you should be able to find one of those.  I actually didn’t even have the coupon, I just said I got it in the mail but lost it (which was semi-true).  Just be sure to be super nice to the employee and it should work out ok.

I don’t know if the BB&B grids are bigger or smaller than other brands, but they seem large to me.  Two boxes is the perfect amount of grids to build a 3×2 cage and the thing takes up half of my dining room (it’s a small, apartment “dining room”).

I’ve been trying to figure out the best, economical solution for a portable pen to bring with when I eventually attempt travel with my bunny.  The best idea I think I’ve seen is attaching the NIC grids two tall into a chain, so I’ll probably be back to BB&B in the near future.

Thanks!  I’ll def. do that!  Maybe we can run out this weekend..depends on how the weather is.  I know before they said not to leave your house until you absolutely had to   I’ve been stuck in the house for the whole week.  Let’s just say that Archie and I have had staring contests on top of the cottontail cottage   He tilts his head to the side and looks at me crazy though

riibu:  i use a two-high NIC grid fence for blocking off areas temporarily and it works great!  i can easily “accordian” it together for storage in my closet and then just pull it out when needed.  that would work for a temp pen if you travel (as long as your buns can’t jump the 28 inches).  you can purchase a couple dog leash clips to attach it end to end, or just bring a few spare zipties.

Ah, yes!  This is exactly what I was thinking!  And even though I just started out thinking of using these as a make-shift travel pen, the more I’m thinking I should wind them through my living room.  If I do it right I could leave the cage door open when I’m not home.  No matter how many toys are in his NIC cage, all he ever does is lay down and look bored out of his mind.  But he’ll play with his toys that I leave out in the living room.

Those would be pretty nice for the floor, I’ll keep that in mind when we decide to buy everything
