Hello fellow bunnies. My bunny got spayed today and she has not been eating since I picked her up. When do I begin administering critical care to my bunny? My vet told me to give her gas drops when she starts eating. Can I give gas drops while also giving critical care?

A rule of thumb is to not go to bed for the night on the day of the spay until the buns has eaten at least something. She might not want pellets, but fresh greens (esp fragrant herbs) might entice her to eat. If she refuses completely, you should do Critical Care. Eating is important for maintaining  body temperature, a bun just out of surgery is at risk for hypothermia.

You can give gas drops plus Critical Care.

she’s only eaten around 5 pieces of cilantro. I called the vet, and I’m not sure why but they told me to wait after I finish 3 doses of gas drops to start critical care.

              How’s your bun doing now?
