I’ve been working on bonding two of my rabbits, Fergus and Olaf, for a couple of months now.. They’ve been doing very well so today I set up their permanent room and put them in. They seem to be doing great, but I’m afraid to leave them for more than a minute or two..

They don’t groom each other, but they lay together, run around and play together, eat together and can peacefully share a litter box. Fergus will occasionally nip at Olaf’s shoulders or haunches, but he’s never seemed aggressive about it. Is that normal? I feel like they’re bonded, but the lack of grooming each other worries me.

They’ve been in their shared room for about three hours now, and have had bonding sessions lasting up to 8 hours. Is it safe to leave them here tonight?

I recently got my 2 bonded. I was nervous leaving them to spend their first couple of nights alone. Some people sleep near them the first night just in case a fight breaks out. Its sounds like they are doing well. I wouldn’t worry about the lack of grooming if they get along otherwise. As for the occasional nipping I wouldn’t worry about it unless the bunny getting nipped seems bothered by it or its aggressive. I see both of my rabbits nip at each other here and there. Its usually to get the other ones attention.
I am not a bunny expert but if you think they are bonded and have had lots of time together you could go with your gut feeling and have them spend the night together. Perhaps someone with more experience can help. Best of luck!

Well they survived the night without waking me up. They seem fine, and I couldn’t find any tufts of wool, so I’m assuming they are fine.

            Thank you for the reply!

And a picture of my guys
