Do you know if most buns sleep during the day? ON the weekends, we find buster resting most of the day, but at night, we’re not sure b/c we are in another room! I wish I had a bunny cam on her all day to watch her!

Like you my experience is that they are resting during the day (though they do wake up once in a while and are active for half an hour and then sleep some, and then back to being active) – we have the bunnies in another room at night now, but I can hear them chewing cardboard boxes now and then, so they are definitely not sleeping all night at least. But when I get into the room in the morning, they are fast asleep.

So, basically = it is on and off sleep mode all day and night

My bun sleeps hardcore from noon until about 5pm. At that point he wakes up for a little bit and runs around, then goes back to sleep until 8pm or so and then is up until we go to bed around 10:30. I don’t know for sure, but from the few nights I’ve spent in the same room with him I think he goes to sleep again around 1am and sleeps til 5:30am.

In summary, it seems like he sleeps from 12:00 to 5:00 during both am and pm, give or take.

I don’t know when my buns sleep… they don’t have a cage, so there is no “bedtime” for them. During the day, they go off to their separate hiding places and sit still for long periods of time. Sometimes their eyes look half-closed… perhaps that is sleeping, bun-style…? I read that bunnies are most active at dawn and dusk- but maybe that’s in the wild. At night BunBun and Nelli go crazy- they run around and jump up on the couch with me. My shy girl, Nelli, seem to like me best when I’m asleep- I wake up to her sitting beside me, one big fuzzy ear resting on my face as she gazes intently at me- lol.

bunnies are crepuscular meaning they are awake during dawn and dusk and generally sleep all other times. mine are awake in the morning and late at night but sleep alllll day.

My bunnies are big loungers – they are also older so they are much less active than bunnies who are under years old, but even in their younger days, they would have real snooze fest during the day. Jack is a deep sleeper around 3pm while Vivian is more active during the day – she may be lounging but she’s alert. (could be due to the fact that she was at a shelter for over 2 years and acclimated to the busy comings and goings of the day)

I had to laugh at your title. I honestly never saw my first bun Kokanee sleep… some just don’t seem to!

Bunnies are crepescular (or diurnal) so they are awake late evening and early morning. They sleep at night and during the day =they are awake for two big chunks

To make it more complicated-some sleep with their eyes open

This is one thing that makes buns such wonderful indoor companions… when people are typically at work (9-5) they are quite content to doze. In the evenings when people are typically home, that’s when they want to be active. You may try to have your bun out with you in the evenings when he wants to play.

Thanks! Buster has been in the kitchen all day today and resting
Beka, in the evenings when we are home from work. She’s out in the kitchen for at least 4-5 hours a night.

My bunnies are really only awake during a couple hours in the morning, and about 4 hours at night, and then the rest of the time they’ll be active for a few minutes and then go back to loafing… I guess they are lazy like their parents

Oh! That sounds great then! They are so much fun to interact with, especially after a long (hard) day at work! I can sit and watch them for hours. If I could get a paycheck watching bunnies play, I’d be in good shape… ;o)
