I thought it’d be interesting to have a thread on all of our bun’s favorite (and least favorite?!) greens or veggie.

Zeus’s favorite is DEFINITELY kale.  He’s a kale fiend.. he will eat it before pellets, carrots, and apples.   I think if he could choose, he’d eat ONLY kale, and no other green.

His least favorite is definitely mustard greens.  He will VERY grudgingly eat them, but only after he has eaten everything else, and after he’s looked up at me for a few hours with the “Well, do I get anything else?” look.

        How about your buns?

Apple – particularly if it’s from my mum’s apple tree. Its only in its second year so produced little mini apples which my mum decided were perfectly rabbit sized they go crazy for them, but unfortunately we’re all out for this year!

Both are obsessed with parsley – they always finish it before anything else. Funny thing is that Otto hated it for over a year and only started to eat it when he saw Hannah eating it. Now it’s his favorite thing ever. So picky!

Neither rabbit will eat mustard greens, and they’re not really into bok choy either (though they will eat it). Strangely, neither will eat fresh fruit either, only dried papaya (which they will climb over a mountain for). I’ve tried bananas, apples, and strawberries and Otto turns away in disgust, while Hannah seems interested and then ignores it.

Chip likes a ton of greens. He’s not so picky about it. Hazel used to like cilantro but she may have got sick of it. Her favorite is parsley.

Romaine lettuce for Dutchess – definately her favorite. She does eat italian parsely and cilantro. I haven’t tried anything else with her yet, it’s hard to get her to try something new, she thinks I’m trying to poison her!

Absolute favourites; Jersey it is brussel sprouts. Rumball it is carrot tops and flat leaf parsley. They both enjoy tuscan kale and broccoli leaves too. I bought curly parsley this week and they’re not having it. They’ve never tried capsicum (bell pepper) when I’ve offered it either.

With Brussel sprouts, I sometimes offer a 1/2 each to keep them occupied while I get the rest of the greens. Or offer it later as a treat. I once gave Jersey some but Rumball was snoozing in the box and not interested. I gave him a few head pets and then watched Jersey eat. After she finished the portion she did a lap & went to see if I’d snuck him any before she came back to eat the rest of the other greens on the plate. They are hands down her favourite green. Non green veggie fave would be carrot which they both like.

The hands-down fave is PARSLEY, italian/flat-leaf to be specific. Collard greens are a big hit.

Not sure about the least fave, altho mustard greens don’t even cross our threshold anymore. They used to like them fine, but about a year ago, they started to snub them. After a couple weeks of them sitting in the bowl and wilting, I decided to stop wasting the money. I might have to get them again to see if they have changed their minds yet.

                                Kale, Kale, Kale
                                Celery
                                Kale
                                Parsley (flat or curly)

But seriously…. Kale he goes BANANAS for!

I have 14 red kale and 3 green kale plants in my (very small!) garden they love it so much. Unfortunately it is now banned as high calcium  Lots of bubble and squeak for me and Dave!

Monty loves watercress, but his absolute favourite is basil. When he was feeling not so good after his neuter surgery, basil was all he would eat and we bought him a potted basil plant as a treat, which he destroyed in about five minutes.

Jersey, I want to try fresh brussel sprouts on her. I love them.

Mimzy is the only one of my three who can tolerate greens of any kind for long. Both Pip and Fiver get poopy butt from anything other than their hay.

So his fave is carrot tops. (would be nice if you left the carrot on, Mom) He also is fond of endive, but I don’t get it very often. But his mainstay is green leaf lettuce…he’ll always eat that.

His least favorite? Hm. He doesn’t like pumpkin. 0_o Neither does Pip (it also gives her poopy butt)

Fiver’s favorite is pumpkin, but I can’t give him much. It’s the only way I get his Benebac into him. Occasionally green leaf and carrot slivers, but again, I have to be careful. He used to like broccoli, but with all his gassy episodes, the cruciferous veggies are out. I’ve tried other greens and veggies, but he’s not interested in them.

bunnnnnnie!? Zeus temperamental about when he gets his food? I don’t believe it! 0_o

Davey STILL refuses any and all veggies unless dried (which is a pain and not worth it since he will only nibble a bit still). Delilah likes plain. Reg adn green leaf lettuce, and romaine. She will eat basil and a little dill though. Davey and Delilah HATE, and I mean HATE parsley and cilantro! They find the smell terrifying! Dexter and Dennis will eat just about anything, but their fave is dandelion greens! If I don’t have dandies they are not as interested in veggies but still gobble them up. They love dandelions, red and green leaf, romaine, bok choy (not thrilled with it but will eat it), dill, basil, basically almost anything! Dex and Dennis love fresh fruit and dried, Davey and Delilah only like fresh/dried banana. With them everything else must be dried.

My mom bought some fancy organic spring greens salad mix for herself. She didn’t like it so she gave the bag to me. I can’t remember what was all in there, but the rabbits went NUTS over it. Otherwise they will eat spinach or romaine.

Mr. Bun-Bun LOVES so many veggies, but especially cilantro, dill, and cabbage. Cilantro and Dill usually make up 1/2 of each of his meals (it’s cheaper to buy the bunches of herbs than bagged greens and they last way longer.) In fact dill is the only thing I buy him that I don’t use any of (almost never anyway.) We share all our other greens, he just goes bonkers for dill and it really can’t be used in many dishes for myself. I just love how fresh and herbal he always smells

Lucy’s favorite is probably cilantro. Though she also really likes parsley and occasionally celery or broccoli.

Mimzy’s fave is dandelion flowers and leaves, and right behind that, plantain. The occasional organic pink rose bud is also highly approved.

Does willow count as greens? Or more likely browns? He loves the willow twigs with leaves on them that I get from bunspace.
