› Forum › THE LOUNGE › What’s your bunny’s “sweet spot”/ weird habit?
Well, I’m starting this topic because I had a “bunny breakthrough” with Crysta, and discovered her “sweet spot”. I haven’t had her too long, and she is kinda shy. I discovered this on accident, while grooming her little lionhead mane around her face, and today I decided to test the theory: she likes her mane being gently pulled (yes, you read correctly!), haha, and starts to purr when I groom her mane like a comb pulled through fur. It’s kinda crazy, in my books. She just sat there in the litter box and enjoyed the grooming session. Her other little oddity is the shaking of the head, like a horse shaking its mane, particularly when I limit her movement around a “chew zone”. Lil miss Sassy!
Anyways, just wondering if anyone’s rabbits have similar or weirder traits… The weirder, the better
Chewie likes to inhale my breath during snuggle sessions. And I love his breath after dinner when it smells like fresh herbs. LOL
Lol, that is hilarious. Oh, yes, fresh cilantro breath! Much better than those dang cecotrope breath mints 😉
Casper steals my socks. He climbs into my sock drawer and drags a sock back to his cage then lies down on it. He can also pull loose fitting socks off feet with ease and will dig at your ankles.
I could stop him. But it’s too cute.
Tuppence holds your fingers. If you offer her a finger she curls her paws around it, and has quite a grip too! She also likes to touch noses with you, and will go to great length to do so! (Including climbing you or standing on tippy toes)
Cuuute!
Roxie likes to gnaw on Caesars eyeballs. She’s an aggressive groomer and chases him around their pen just to lick his eyes. She also sits on his head and pushes his lops ears all over to groom them. She also steals his fur.
Butternut (and Zane and Backers) live in the kitchen. Butternut likes to sneak out if the gate gets left open. But when we herd her back in, she binkies and bounces away like it was some big game and she won! Lol
Fosterish, that is adorable. He probably just misses being near you. Tuppence sounds like a sweetie pie!
Lol BrunosMama. That is what you call a control freak, haha. I read on the forum that binkies can also represent something like showing strength/ flexing muscle, which Crysta does for sure. I wonder if that’s what it could mean, also…
Blue constantly tries to drink whatever im drinking or eat whatever im eating. It doesnt matter what it is. And if i dont share, he will lunge at my hands to get whatever little bit he can. Its so hilariously adorable. He never succeeds with things i know he cannot eat, but i do share my water and greens with him sometimes to make him happy. He also really, really loves his shoulders semi deep massaged by my boyfriend. My boyfriend massages kind of rough sometimes so i was a bit nervous at first, but Blue just chattered away and sprawled out so he clearly loved it. Now its become part of their routine together lol
When I put the bunnies out on the grass, the girls always have to go to the right end end of where the two runs join, and check each other out, nose-to-nose.
The arrival of Podge hasn’t changed this. He is like Pippi, straight down to the important business of eating grass.
Here the girls are caught on camera, as they head off to the right…
Wow! Synchronized buns.
How funny – it looks like they are running a relay race….. ! The boys have finished, heads down to eat !
When I scratch her bum, she has to stop everything and lick her dewlap, the harder I scratch, the faster she licks….
I’m wondering if does do this when they mate….? (if so, ooops! LOL)
Mikey, I laughed when I pictured a tense bunny getting an intense shoulder massage, but that is so sweet that they’ve bonded like that, and that your boyf. is so supportive.
I was going to say the same thing as ViennaBlue, that it looks like a relay race with GinaJenny’s buns. All four are in perfect formation, and I love the colours! So much huggy-ness.
ViennaBlue, that is the quirkiest thing!! I imagine it’s a bit like when you scratch a dogs ear, their legs involuntarily twitch.
Thor has a cheeky streak – he knows where I keep the fresh willow sticks, so he always steals them from the box. Bunny self-serve.
Although we didn’t pick Podge for his colouring, he does compliment the others perfectly, doesn’t he
I’m not entirely sure at what point it happened, I think maybe I fell asleep in the rabbit pen, but as of a few days ago Caspers new favourite thing is to climb onto my stomach while I am lying down, and then wiggle until his head is in between my boobs and his little floppy ears are resting on top of them like a bunny airplane. His front paws will be tucked under him and his feet are splayed out over my stomach. He then chatters happily and falls asleep and I can put my arms around him or put one arm over him like a teddy and have the other massaging Tuppy’s head (she is not quite confident enough to sleep on me, but will sleep next to me or pressed up next to me).
The issue is that both bunnies have decided that they love this huge cuddle set up so much, that they team up to bully me into lying down for them! They work together to headbutt my hands, dig at my back and pull my clothes!
I am worried about what will happen when Tuppy’s litter are old enough to crawl out of the nest and try to join in! I can’t become a giant bunny bed! It just doesn’t pay the bills!
@Love4Bunny
Oh it is funny! Sometimes Blue will demand his little massages by nuzzling under my boyfriends hand, and poking his fingers repeatedly. My bunnies are my boyfriends babies too
It sounds like they all enjoy hearing your heart beat while they rest on you. Thats super cute they bully you into cuddles too, haha
These are all hilarious. That “airplane” situation sounds like quite a scene!
Olaf likes when I breathe on him during pets, too. His favorite pastime is to pile as many toys into his water bowl as possible, or, dramatically throw them from his loft with a satisfied ear shake. He’s also outrageously clumsy, at one point falling backwards off the couch into a tote bag.
Fosterish, I think you’ve officially become the most comfortable seat in the house!
Lol pinknfwuffy, that’s so funny. Okay, I shouldn’t laugh! I hope he was alright! Hopefully, only his pride was injured.
I laughed too, Love4Bunny, after realizing he was fine. :] His face was priceless. “Whoa.” I think he enjoys giving me a heart attack.
lol I’m loving these.
The bunny in a tote is hilarious, and the airplane ears… rotfl
I wish Chewie would just sleep on me – he boxes my boobs if I don’t share my snack with him.

Hilarious mental image
This is such a cute/funny thread to read. I just love rabbits. Stating the obvious… but there you go.
My bunny follows me EVERYWHERE, and loves to sit on windowsills and watch the outside. This one cute moment was when he was just sitting on the windowsill, staring out at the world, when a tiny little baby squirrel comes and watches him. Bunbun was very confused, and didn’t react. I did, however. I squealed with delight like a two-year old and ran to the window, pressing my finger against the window. The baby squirrel tried to lick me. SO. CUTE. But another time. the silly bunny lost his footing and fell SPLAT to the floor from the sill. He was unperturbed, however, and jumped right back up.
Bunbun also loves being pet by my foot. Don’t know why.
He also fell off the couch one time – and grabbed my leg to stop himself from falling. That HURT, and I was too surprised to think about helping him back up. The poor bunny hung on to my leg for about ten seconds before finally falling off the couch, lol,
Sorry, I always go into a cute-bunny rant when I am asked these questions… I could go on forever (or at least an hour), but I think I’ll stop here for your sake, haha!
Bunbun, I can def. relate to the foot petting thing! Thor will push his head UNDER my feet when I am sitting down, specifically for a head rub. Maybe your bunny needs a helmet for all those extreme activities he participates in
Yes, Bunbun does the same thing! He literally shoves his tiny fluffy head under my foot or hand. I remember when he first started doing that, I thought, “What a rude bunny!” But now I just think it’s cute.
He’s a bit of a mischievous bunny, but what bunny isn’t? Haha, I can imagine him in a tiny little helmet. He would not like that, though…
I forgot I have a picture of what I term “Bunny Shiatsu”. It looks like Thor is being squished, but I promise you, I did not hurt him in any way. I am sitting on a chair, so my weight is on my hamstrings, and not my feet (or thus, Thor’s head). Thor pushes himself under my feet while I am studying, and this is one of his favourite spots to be near me. And he will purr when I massage his head with my feet, and nudge me when I stop.
Thor is another Zouzou lookalike !! Looks just like her! Identical dark slate colouring!
How funny your pictures are !!
Ooh, I love seeing bunnies like Thor. I will have to check it out if I can. The flash makes Thor look shiny, which is probably why it seems he has a greyish tone (and I suspect he is a satin mix because the shaft has a nice sheen in person). Thor is actually as black as coal in the flesh. When I don’t use the flash, I cannot see his eyes at all, and he looks like a big lump of black fur!
Thanks, Vienna Blue, he is a funny dude. That there is the bossy/ follow-me-round-like-a-puppy-dog side of Thor. Those photo’s are preceded by a routine: Light oinking, followed by persistent speed-circling as I sit in my chair. That’s my cue, and I imagine Thor is thinking, “Lift your legs already, woman!”, hahah. I lift feet, and he lies down, ready to be groomed till Kingdom come. Every. Single. Time.
My Yohio too demands to be pet with my foot! Both when I’m sitting at my desk and when I’m standing up, and he’s relentless. If I don’t comply, he insists. I too grab his ears between my toes.
Vienna, Bam too licks his upper chest (doesn’t have a dewlap since he’s a boy) frantically when he is pet.
Yes! When I’m standing, too! I was washing up in the kitchen one time and another time, grabbing hay to refil, and both times, Thor decided it was time to lie down and spread out between my feet when I was standing up. It was the weirdest thing. It’s like, “Dude, I’m not done yet!”, but, like any bunny, he thinks the world revolves around him… these are the times that I feel like calling him General Zod (the villain from Superman).
Bam – that’s funny then, I thought it would have something to do with preparing nest…. obviously not….
Maybe its just simple enough that’s it’s a ticklish spot !!
Gina has decided that the fur along Podge’s spine needs that big long splodge of ‘muck’ cleaning off, and spends hours trying to lick his patches of black fur ‘clean’.
Aww! That’s hilarious. She sounds tenacious.
She is! And Podge of course has no complaints about the bonus grooming!!
Boople has one specific toy that always ends up in his water bowl, without fail. He proudly drinks round the toy. *sigh*
If I sprinkle pellets in with his hay for foraging purposes, he sticks his entire head under the hay, and looks like he has a green wig on.
Then there’s his weird obsession with the guest bath where the kitty box is. I don’t know why he’s so intrigued with cat turds… :-/
Haha, I think bunnies can be a bit like boys: they’re all interested in turds and turd humour.
Oh, Boobple, you and your adorable bunny foibles.
Yesterday I was taking my sisters rabbit Annuska for a run outside on her leash… And she revealed her superbunny power to me. She is a natural rock climber!! There’s a rock wall boundary separating our house from the neighbours, and it really shocked me when she STARTED CLIMBING alll the way to the top. I thought she would need my help to get down, but she climbed down headfirst and then climbed up again like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Next time I will try get photos :3
My sisters going to buy a metal link chain for her harness because she snapped right through her leash and at the moment we have tied two skipping ropes to the harness.
