I am sitting here watching a show called“How To Look Good Naked”. I’ve never heard of it and my eyes are glued to the TV! Not because the women in tonight’s episode need a makeover but because they are really nicely built and have lower self esteem than I do…and trust me, I have reason to have a low self esteem..lol
There is a gay man telling these women to strip down to their bra and panties AND THEY’RE DOING IT!
And earlier I watched Marriage 911. I swear I saw my relationship with my ex fiancee and to see these people acting like they love each other after the filthy insults they hurled at each other at the beginning of the show hurt a little. I know my relationship could never be fixed but it makes me sad that we actually tried and didn’t see the results like those people did.
But…back to what’s on TV now… why would women who look the way so many women in the world would give anything to look be ashamed of what they have??
OMG. This man just complimented that woman’s clavicle….LMAO!!!
AH! hahahha
I’m glad I don’t get cable anymore! And don’t let that Marriage 911 get to you, I’m sure that those editors could have made any relationship look like *POOF* it worked out great. They probably have hours of filming that they edit to make it look that way. In fact, those nice scenes are probably ones they edited in from when the show actually started, and the bad ones are probably from when the filming was ending
i think the lowest of low though was ‘Flavor of Love” – I have never seen such grossness in my life….
I don’t watch much TV and Flavor of Love? I refused to even go there. They have some really attractive heavier women. I just want to know how they advertised for women with flabby tummies to stand in their underwear in front of millions of people.
Haha – I know exactly which show you’re talking about! I know I’d never be caught stripping down to my skivies in front of a room full of television cameras – but I think what they do to turn their self perceptions around is amazing. In the one episode I saw they had the gal looking at pictures of bodies of people from the neck down and having her explain what she liked best about each one – and then she picked one that she would like to look like, and it was actually a picture of her at her current size – she just didn’t recognize it without her face. So I just think it goes to show that women especially are often too hard on themselves and don’t realize that it’s not as bad as they think – we’re our own worst enemies! So while I don’t think the show deserves an Emmy, and it could do without the clavicle compliments, I think the message they’re trying to send is a good one.
I’m a big girl. Whenever I see pictures of myself I do a double take because the fat girl I see in the pictures is not who I see when I look in the mirror. Maybe I have reverse body issues? lol Seriously, I see a “bigger” girl in the mirror but not as big as what the camera shows.
I’ve dieted, I’ve joined Curves, I used to own a pet care company and I walked about 10 miles a day…and while I lost about 13 inches and 20 lbs in about six months I didn’t lose an ounce off my waist. Even doing extra core exercises didn’t help. My arms and legs sure looked darn good though.
I will never be attractively slim and I’ve been trying to change the way I think about myself. The only time I really pay attention to what I look like is when I see pictures of me or when I’m trying on clothes. I’ve decided to follow Stacy and Clinton’s advice and dress the body I have, not the one I want to have. And a big one is to stop trying to hide myself in oversized clothes. That makes me look worse. I started looking at pictures of plus size models and they are really beautiful women. Maybe if I stop paying attention to the thin models and try to emulate the plus size models I’ll feel better about myself and not be self conscious.
Of course…I’m a single home owning mom with too many animals…so my clothing budget is pretty much non existant…but I have a good job and I’m making a name for myself…I’ll earn a few pretty nice raises in the next few years and be more comfortable in the financial area. Then I can go on a shopping spree “What Not To Wear” style.
yeah we have this here every week, the gay guy is called Gok Wan and he does stuff for a shop called dorothy perkins, its a good show but ive seen enough of it now its on every week.
I’ve never watched that show but I think that the show is about letting those women feel good about what they have. That they don’t have to change themselves they just need the confidence and so he shows them how to work what they’ve got. Atleast that’s what the commercials look like!
I watched one show about marriages called “Newly Wed, Nearly Dead” I couldn’t get through a single episode though lol it was just that this couple was such a disaster it was as if they hated each other and neither of them was putting any effort into the relationship.
And OMG…flavor of love…DO NOT WANT! I won’t watch that even for a second. None of those..not the whatever it’s called show where the one chick from that basically sleeps with a bunch of guys…. eww
there is one here where the man has to plan a wedding without the woman knowing, he even has to pick her dress and everything, its quite funny because nearly always the bride is like OMG I EFFIN HATE THAT DRESS WHY WOULD U EVEN PICK THAT FOR ME YOU B**TARD! hahaha its hilarious i always think well u are getting a free wedding so dont complain too much lol
And people wonder why I don’t have TV ![]()
I haven’t seen all that many episodes of “Naked” but I have to say I rather like it. I like how he puts things into terms that don’t sound like “oh you’re fat get used to it”. You’re cuvry, you have beautiful , feel good about yourself as you are now and you can still work to change the things you’d like tweaked. The only problem I have with Gok is that he looks like a gay male version of my mother’s cousin (who is female, and not at all asian!)

Tank and Rangers Mom- I know exactly how you feel re: big on camera. I used to be super skinny but now I’m a lot bigger (trying very hard to lose some of it at least) and I almost cry when I see myself in pics. “Did I gain THAT much weight” Needless to say, I avoid cameras if at all possible.
TV today sucks. I cut my cable and instead of paying the cable bill every month to watch crappy reality tv and teeny bopper dramas I buy a DVD box set every month. My bf and I take turns picking. We buy actual good scripted shows that used to be on tv (like Seinfeld and Married with Children).
