› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › What would you name future pets?
So I was making a list of names for my chicks I’m getting this spring. (pets/egg layers) And my list got kinda long and I ended up being like “my next buns will be named —–“
So I know some people are dreaming about new pets and large German bunnies, *SO* I decided to post this thread about what sort of animals you want in the future, and what their names might be?![]()
![]()
I’ll go first if I can remember all the names:
For dogs I think I’ll name my next two Owen and Ricochet. (Maybe Paris)
For buns I like Ara, Link, Paris and Niall.
For cats I like Swan and Bear. (If I ever get cats)
And Boston or Freddy for a Hamster.
Now for dream animals:
If they ever become legal (are they?) I think a de-scented pet skunk would be cool. ![]()

What? And give people the opportunity to steal top secret name ideas? Never!!!!!
Except I know I won’t be naming any future buns Manny because tanlover has the one and only.
Come on LBJ, you can spare a name or two!
I can’t wait to use the names Paris and Niall on bunnies though.
![]()
EDIT— LBJ— You could always share a type of animal you’ve always wanted for a pet though.![]()
I never needed any more pets because I had all of the animals at work that I loved (and still do) so much. It hurts not being there and seeing them every day. =(
I would like to get a turtle, but I haven’t given much thought to names yet. I would also like another bird, I haven’t owned one for such a long time.
Who’s thinking about giant German bunnies? What a fabulous idea! I think Cadbury would be great!
Hmmm. Well, when we had Biscuit, we wanted another to name Gravy lol. My husband wants a duck to name Bill. (duckBill….haha get it? Its horrible lol
>.<
I’ve always wanted a fat orange cat to name Meatball.
Someday we would to get a ferret and a turtle. Quite honestly, I can’t say there’s a critter we wouldnt want. Except fish. We suck at fish. So no more fish for us.
BrunosMama – You should be blocking those thoughts from your head! =p
So uh… At this point I’d have to keep up with the ancient Egyptian royalty theme for bunnies, so here goes in order of favorite to least favorite:
Girls: Mutnodjmet (Moot-NOHJ-met), Inetkawes (In-eht-KAH-wes), Mutemwiya (Moot-EM-wee-yah), or Kekheretnebti (Keh-KEHret-neb-tee) (my mom flat out said no at this one when I was naming Meki. I just like it because “kheret” sounds like “carrot”)
Boys: Senwosret (Sehn-WAHS-ret), Nakhtmin (NAHKT-meen), Senebkay (Sehn-EB-kay), Kamose (KAH-mohs)
I started off tame with Nefertari and things got kind of tongue-twisty with Meketaten, but now I’m just out of control. Look at it this way, at least I haven’t considered a name like Djedkhonsuefankh…….. yet. Djedkhonsuefankh has a good ring to it and I could call him “Jed” for short ![]()
I want a Pembroke Welsh Corgi really bad and for him I’d like to name him either Watson or Waffles (Sir Watson/Waffles McCorgiton)
Other than that I haven’t thought much about pet names
Meketaten I’m laughing at Waffles…amazing!
I love all your names Moxie! Our first bun was Boston, so I’m partial and think you should go for it!
I mentioned this in another thread; I want the following animals
Large Dog
Hermit Crabs
A beta fish
Cockatoo
Another bun
Guinea Pigs
My only hope is probably the large dog and one more bun
I’ll stick to holiday names since I have Pumpkin and Shamrock..Cadbury like BM mentioned or E.B. (Easter Bunny), Freedom for 4th of July. Freedom could be a dog’s name too!
I mentioned my first bunny Boston…sometimes I wished I kept going with city names. I might consider Cleveland, Orlando, and Marshall to stick with names of cities that are important to us!
Cadbury is a contender. I also like Barney or Sam for a boy. It really depends on the bunny. No more girls if I can help it. I have enough divas!
Hubby wants another dog, but I’m not sure I can do that again. My first dog Buffy (cocker spaniel) was born on my first birthday and it was so sad to see him when he got sick (he had heart problems when he got older). Then our husky-shepherd mix Walter. My mother wanted to have her put down when my parents bought a new house, but I found her a great new home with wonderful people but still had to say goodbye. It gets harder every time, and I still cry when I think of Mysti. So dog names are out of the question for me.
I love the name Merlot. It sounds pretty regal. Maybe for my second bun!
Oh I definitely wanted a Giant German bunny B Mama, but someone actually was on here a short while with one and I don’t know if she was set up with a litter box yet or what, but she spoke of cleaning up after the bun 3x per DAY and I think they have to have about a bale of hay a week or some ridiculous thing. That cured me!
I had an AWESOME name picked out for my next bunny…but I can’t remember it now
I’m loving all the names!
And I’ll be waiting patiently MB to hear that awesome name you picked out!
)
Not that I ever plan to get another bunny EVER….. I would call him/her Alice.
I don’t mind sharing my new bunny name cause I am NEVER getting another bunny and won’t be using the name, ha ha ha!
My hubby has always wanted a ‘male’ Rottweiler (neutered), but because I am partial to small doggies it has never happened. He still says he is getting one (yer right, just like the cat! So funny!) and has always planned to call him Shirley! And you guys thought I was weird??? Ha ha ha ha…….
No name for the cat – cause I told him years ago he could have a cat when ‘he’ moved out!
LOL!
Shirley sounds like a nice, sweet rotweiler boy!
Who is going to get teased and picked on for his name….. poor puppy!
LOL!
The name I choose really depends on the pet, I usually need to get to know them for a bit before giving a name. Of course any name I pick for any future bunnies will have to be BB chosen, but for me I really want to name my next bun Meredith, or Cleo. If it’s a boy, maybe Leo, Seymore, Loki, something like that. Of course I have to consider Alice too because AH owns half of my next bun. ![]()
I almost forgot – how could I??? I think Alice would be the perfect name for OUR next bunny!!! LOL! But yes, when the time comes, we will put it to a BB vote. LBJ & JR are banned!!! Ha haha ha ha ha ha!
BTW – Amanda knows that I have a name picked out for MY (not the hubby’s) next puppy. It will be a cute little white (so I can see ‘her’ on my dark floors) puppy. I’m hoping for another maltese x toy poodle??? I’m not giving away her name – I have no problem with anyone using the name for a bunny, but I don’t want anyone pinching it for a cute white fluffy puppy! Lol!
AH — you can’t name a bunny Alice, you have to name the new CHICKEN Alice!!
I CAN’T name the new kitchen Alice – it reminds me of Alice (RIP) from the Brady Bunch, lol!
And you know why I want to name my illegal bunny Alice, ha ha ha ha ha!
I would never name another pet Alice.
If I had of thought of this name BEFORE I got Henry, I swear, his name would have been Alice!
Ha ha haha ha ha ha!
Lol.
I think I’ve decided to name my rooster I’m getting Rhett. (Apparently this breed’s rooster is supposed to be friendly, although I’ve only known 1 nice rooster who we could hold/pat and was as friendly as a hen.) ![]()
I mentioned this in another thread; I want the following animals
Large Dog
Hermit Crabs
A beta fish
Cockatoo
Another bun
Guinea PigsMy only hope is probably the large dog and one more bun
All wonderful animals LLH.
Have you looked into any particular breeds of dogs you like? ![]()
Moxie I was just talking to a co-worker about pet chickens. She used to volunteer at a Chicken Rescue! Who knew!! She said they all have very different personalities. Cool!
As for dogs; I’ve always wanted pug or a boxer mix. but lately I am obsessed with rescuing a retired Greyhound racer!!!
I never really thought about their being a chicken rescue?
And those are all great dog breeds. ![]()
Chickens sometimes show up at our humane society.
When I eventually have my own house with a garden I’m hoping to adopt a Flemish Giant. I’d call it either Madam WiffleBottom or Colonel FluffleFeet.
Then call them Madam or Colonel for short ![]()
Those are cute names Silverpaws. ![]()
