Mini M&M’s? Fun size candy bars? (What’s so fun about a one inch candy bar, I gotta say? Give me more chocolate than that!) DumDums? Pixie Stix?
Or are you more traditional? Popcorn balls? Caramel apples? Homemade fudge?
For me, one of my favorite all time candies has to be salt water taffy. Especially the peppermint, cinnamon or liquorice flavors. There’s just something about having to peel that sticky, gooey stuff off the wrapper (eating most of the wrapper in the process) and then picking it off your teeth twenty minutes later that just screams October 31st. ^_^ And huge dental bills. lolz….
I know, this is a thread totally dangerous to the Weight Loss Wagon, but since I can feel snow coming ( oh no…I SAID IT! AGH! ) I am getting the terrible sugar munchies so bad, that I’m sure I could fall asleep now with my grizzly-pack abs and not starve until I wake up at Spring Equinox!
May as well enjoy my long winter’s nap with a sweet memory of tricks and treats still lingering on my tastebuds! ^_^
So share your favorite sweets here! You may have enjoyed something I’ve never heard of (and you’ll have to send me a sample!)
just plain jane milky way lover here…of course the fun sized…..! i always traded w/ my brother, he loved baby ruths
The edible kind! ![]()
Chic-o-sticks! (sp?) they are amazing lol. And i can never turn away a snickers! Oh and laffy taffys are the bomb! lol i havent said ‘the bomb’ in forever
yay for chik-o-sticks! they are amazing!!!!
Dang it! I’m moving to the States! nom nom nom
chik-o-stiks? 0_o Chicken flavored candy? Ummm….. X_X
Hmm… what the heck in a chik-o-stick? Gum?
ooh, mine would HAVE to be tootsie rolls! I LOVE those things!!
Hahah no kidding!! I haven’t heard of most of those candies you all are talking about!!
I liked milk duds the best at halloween.
They are.. im not sure lol, they are kinda hard but chewy and taste like peanut butter lol
Off the internet..
Just imagine the best fresh-roasted Texas Grade A Jumbo peanuts – y’all know we roast our own, right? We take these golden roasted peanuts, sprinkle them with salt while they’re still warm, and grind them along with pure granulated sugar in a patented process. Our experienced candy makers take this concoction and roll it into sticks that are the perfect mix of peanuts and crunchy candy. What we’re left with is the most perfect candy on earth. It’s kind of flaky, kind of crunchy, kind of crispy, kind of chewy, and VERY peanutty.
Oh, why is it called a Chick-O-Stick? Well, you can thank our founder Granddaddy for that. He came up with the name one day, and well, it just stuck.
I’m from Texas, too! Hahaha. Oh well!
I’ve never heard of a Chik-o-stick. And I DESPISED Tootsie Rolls and only marginally liked Milk Duds better! This is why it was best to go Trick-or-Treating in groups, and trade at the end!
Give me your Smarties, and you can have ALL of my Tootsie Rolls! They were my favorite. Bottle Caps and Sweet Tarts, too. But those were tied with Snickers, Mr Goodbars–and what was that kind with the crackley-rice stuff mixed in?–minis. Mmmm! Chocolate and crunchies!
Good stuff. I keep threatening to go Trick-or-Treating as a magician with Lizzy as my white rabbit. But she’d hate me and then escape, and the martinis I would get for trick-or-treat in my neighborhood definitely wouldn’t fix the guilt, so I guess the bun stays at home!
If it’s chocolate, I’ll eat it, lol… but my faves from Halloween would have to be Peanut Butter Cups and Tootsie Pops. Also, I used to love gummy candy as a kid (gummy bears and swedish berries) until I found out what gelatin was made of. Now I can’t even look at the stuff.
PS. M&M’s and any candy made by that company (Mars, Twix, etc) do tests on animals (including bun buns!!). Yes, they test on animals for candy! How sick is that. Find out more here, if your interested : http://www.marscandykills.com
Lightchick- i think your talking about Crunch Bars. And i forgot about Mr. Goodbars! i love those too! I get one of those EVERY time i go to the store.
I’m gongi to take a wild guess and say I’m the only one who loves candy corn and those candy pumpkins ![]()
Littlepuffytail-theres a video on that site——i couldn’t even watch it! WOW!!! i had NO IDEA!
ewwww candy corn is nasty lol
I didn’t know they had Chick-o-Sticks outside of Texas! I don’t really like them but the factory that makes them (Akinson’s Candy Company) is is my town! Yay for East Texas!
candy corn mixed w/ peanuts…YUM!
i hate candy corn! i try it every year again and again but its always gross lol
Allenj we think alike! Candy corn with salted peanuts!
Rice/chocolate minis: Krackel
Ah, Chik-o-stiks make sense now. I’ve had something like them. But that’s not what they were called and I don’t remember the name. Kind of like a Butterfinger then, right?
Mmmmm…..SMAAAAAARRRTIIIEEESSS!!!! NOMNOMNOM!
I like the candy corn with the chocolate bottoms. The regular ones don’t appeal to me though. Weird. I know it’s just the same stuff.
Does anyone here put gumdrops in popcorn? My sis-in-law does that. Dots. Can’t forget Dots! ^_^
LPT! You’re ruining my childhood dreams! 0_o WHAT ON EARTH does one need to test candy on bunnies for??? I appreciate the info though, geez, that’s nauseating!
I’m afraid to ask what gummy bears are made of….. 0_o; Although I had a friend in school who licked the back of one and stuck it to his blazer and it went through the wash several times and never came off or melted. Kinda gives you an idea….
Please tell me Mary Jane’s aren’t produced using animal cruelty! (peanut butter taffy)
Yea chik-o-sticks are kinda like a butterfinger. I love Mary Janes too!(taffy lol)
mimz–no gumdrops here, but my BF puts m&m’s in popcorn!
lol @ the gummy bear story!!!!!
chips!!! good score if you get lots-o chips in your trick ot treat bag ![]()
anything chocolate runs a close second tho!
hmmm…never remember getting chips-that woulda been cool.
i do remember getting raisins though, YECH!
Chok-o-sticks are like Butter Fingers without the chocolate covering.
Now, I’m not sure I agree with the title of this post “What was YOUR favorite Halloween candy?” Was? WAS??? If I ever stop eating candy, it’s time to kill me.
My favorite halloween candy is the candy left in the stores on Nov 1st – when it all gets discounted.
Ok! I blame this thread as the reason I’m eating a snickers bar for breakfast at the moment.
Do you seriously have a candy called Mary Jane??
I don’t know what half this stuff is but it sounds yummy all the same!
Lol yep! Mary Jane is a hard caramal taffy thing i believe
i have a gummy bear story too.
I have a architecture studio that i work in for school, and we use those really bright metal desk lamps on our desks. One time a kid licked a gummy bear at the beginning of the semester and then stuck it to his lamp. every time he would have his lamp on it would melt the gummy bear a bit and cause it to slide down a little, then he would turn it off when he left and it would harden again. at the end of the semester the gummy was half hanging off and was about 2 inches long and 1/8 inch wide and you could still see its bear face and arms! lol!
^^ Ick! lol thats kind of scary that it lasted that long
I love them ALL! But I’d have to pick Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups if I had to choose one. ![]()
Reeses are my favorite too!
Wonder what would happen to a Gummi bear if you stuck it on your car windscreen?
OK! I blame this thread for considering a Snickers bar for lunch also! Time to go out and buy some real food I think. Maybe it’s a good thing we don’t do Halloween in Australia!
Raisins? No, you know the REAL downer in your trick or treat bag was the old stick down the street (everyone has one) who put floss and a toothbrush and a lecture about your dental health. Happy Halloween…..NOT!!!! *gigglesnort*
I always bought little pumpkin pails and filled them with crayons and stuff to color and a little extra candy and a plushie or a book for my kids and would leave them by their doors for when they got back from T & T and told them the Great Pumpkin had been here. Ahhh…those were the days! ^_^
Oooo…that just reminded me. Has anyone seen the ghost and black cat Peeps candies yet? I love the black cats, they are tastier than traditional Peeps for some reason.
I’m totally sticking a gummi bear on my car to test that.
OK, it’s 9pm in my part of the world….and I blame this thread for my consumption of two snickers bars today and my subsequent guilt, feeling of piggishness and not so good tummy!
in my generation we were only allowed to eat candy that was fully wrapped, and inspected by parents… so no homemade goodies. i liked it all. i loves candy and chocolate. now that i have a son, it’s like i’m a kid all over again.
1 for you, 2 for mom, 1 for you, 3 for dad.
hmm.. i dont get all this halloween hype, we have none of it here infact i havent even heard the word halloween yet only on BB lol, and there is no ‘halloween candy’ here as no-one trick or treats anymore lol
OK- this is kina off topic but some others have mentioned stuff they DO NOT like. My dislikes are- Necco wafers (yes, they still make these), black licorice (though that is more of an issue at Easter with black jelly beans), for some reason I do not like Milk Duds, Whoppers, candy corn, caramels and a few others I will probably remember later.
One of the best all time does have to be the Reeses PB cup. I always try the “new/ limited edition” versions they come out with- plus caramel, plus peanuts, and the “Elvis” edition (plus a layer of banana flavor) and they are NEVER better than the original. I guess you can’t improve upon perfection.
But other favorites are Nerds, Tootsie pops, fruit flavored tootsie rolls, Milky Way, Snickers, 2 Musketeers, and bubble gum.
I LURVE ‘Dubble Bubble Gum’, that is a classic! The ones that had the cartoons in them (that were totally corny), um…Bazooka?
Elivs PB Cups? Ooookay, now I’ve heard of everything!
The fruit and vanilla Tootsies are good too. I guess I like the sticky stuff! ^_^
Yup, Beka, it was amazing how much candy did NOT get returned to my little Halloween pumpkin carry-all! ^_^ My folks would let me have popcorn balls at neighbor’s houses that they knew, however. And caramel apples….mmmmmm! They are good to have/make all the way through Thanksgiving.
Uh-oh….I smell another yummy thread to be posted! ^_^ (Thanksgiving goodies!)
K&D-No Halloween! *gasps* how sad!
i love flavored tootsies too!!! yumyum!
Dum-dums! I forgot about Dum-dums! The root beer flavored ones are the BEST!
Now that I’m too old for Trick-or-Treat (*sniff, sniff*), I do reverse Trick-Or-Treating with my high school students on Halloween. I buy a big bag of CRAP (I try to balance candy-types so everybody gets something they like), and as they walk in the room, I FLING candy at them! They can’t complain when I bop them on the head, because it’s with CANDY! And for the rest of class, when they do anything non-annoying, I chuck more candy at them.
The best part is, my classes are at the end of the day, so I get them hopped-up on sugar, and then send them home!
Mwah-ha-ha!

Oh I LOOOVEEE candy corn. yes gritty, gross candy corn. I thought I would out grow it but I still love it!
Hmm, I can’t help but feel like Aussies miss out on this fun. You guys have halloween, Thanksgiving as well as xmas & Easer. Where’s our fun?
All we have is a crappy ‘families & community day’ conveniently on the day of the Melbourne Cup (biggest horse race in Aust, everyone watches it, even people who think racing horses is cruel).
Being vegan cancels out pretty much every candy exept ones made especially for vegans
but I loved sherbet!
i dont eat M&M’s because they are tested on animals (MARS candy bars are tested on animals) but i eat Hershey’s chocolate and I love Mike and Ikes.
Oh why do I keep coming back to read updates on this thread? I inevitably end up going off in search of sugar afterwards. And Halloween 29 days away so possibly you all will keep discussing these yummies until then? I need to make a dental appointment.
YUM mike and ikes!!!!!!!
i love dark chocolate of any kind too!! dove is my fave!
Oh Dove is WAY too rich for me! With my stomach troubles, I shouldn’t be eating sugar of any kind, but hey, who can resist all these bright and colorfully decorated packages of multi-types of goodies?? ^_^
I just saw my dentist. Two crowns fitted and completed. I don’t go back in until January…lolz!
Lightchick…shame on you! >-> You’re one of those kind that got kids like mine so amped on the way home I wanted to throw myself off a bridge! lmao!
Mike & Ikes, and Good & Plenty, now those and Jujubes I can remember from going to see movies, but didn’t get much chance to have them any other time.
Of course, with the melamine scare, I have to steer clear of my favorite Cadbury bars now….*sniffle*
And I empathize with the Aussies. It’s not fair and I think you should petition your Prime Minister to add a few holidays centered entirely around sweets. Maye have a Willy Wonka Day officially declared or something! ^_^
We could petition to Kevvy but somehow I believe we’d have more success petitioning for a National Beer Day or Footy Day.
Are M&M’s tested on animals even NOW?! Or was this testing something that happened 50 years ago… I’ve never heard about this until now. I know for some 5 minutes ago is no different than 50 years ago, but I guess I’m okay with companies learning from our beeotching. So does this company STILL test on animials that we know of?
Wow. I had no idea this site automatically translated vaguely-offensive words to non-words! Weird! (In reference to above post).
On a different topic, sorry MimzMum!
That’s how I get to get away with giving them actual grades for “arts” classes. “She failed me on my Stage Lighting Accessoreis Quiz, but I got candy for halloween, so I guess she’s okay…”
I like being nice to them when I can, too. Generally, I can’t around Quiz-time. But Halloween makes an exception of every rule!
![]()
Lightchick-
had to test that out.
beeotching.
haha! too funny! what else?
#$@!.
#$@!.
damn.
well, we can still say damn!
I’m tempted to try the 7 words from George Carlin’s sketch. I remember how it changes to beeotch from before, but it’s still funny!
My my, haven’t we diverged from our original topic…
Yes, Mars chocolate (m&m, twix, dove, snickers, starburst, etc.) still does test on animals. I’m one of those people that dont eat stuff (well i try not to) and try not to use products tested on animals.
Here is the link:
http://www.marscandykills.com/
Snickers? *sniffle* I can’t eat Snickers anymore?? *cries*
Please tell me they don’t test Reeses Pieces on animals….pleasepleaseplease!
lolz, about the word subs. I was trying to describe a hay texture as p-r-i-c-k-l-y and it wouldn’t take that. Can’t remember what it subbed for it though.
I used p-ric-k-l-y too and it put dollar signs and junk in there– i thought it was a forum malfunction!
I’m such a dork, I think I just read every post on this thread.
Actually.. i don’t think… i KNOW i did ^_^
I like candy corn if I can keep myself from eating too much. I have a problem with eating just one of those little things. They can really give you a tummy-ache.
No more Mars for me after tonight:
“Mars funded a test in which experimenters forced rabbits to eat a high-cholesterol diet with varying amounts of cocoa, then cut out and examined tissue from the rabbits’ primary blood vessel to the heart to determine the effect of cocoa on rabbits’ muscle tissue. ”
Rabbits have such a sweet tooth sometimes. I bet this was easy to do. Atleast at first. =(
Its so hard to combat things like this by just stopping the purchase of an item, but thats enough to stop me from getting m&ms! There are other chocolates i the sea. My fav is Hershey’s Special Dark chocolate.
I know, i dont eat mars chocolate anymore. I eat Hersheys because they dont test on animals
