My little bun IS litter trained and thinks any box with any material inside is a litter box. I want to buy him a nice bed to lay in but I’m worried he’ll soil it. What kinds of bed do you like for your bunnies?

I have an IKEA bed for my bun. I put a piece of vet bed on it instead of the little blanket and comforter it came with.

The problem with beds for bunnies is that the bun pees in or chews it, or both. Some buns can have a bed when they are a little older, some buns can never have a bed without ruining it completely. In nature, rabbits dont line their burrows with anything soft unless they’re having babies, in which case they make a nest with their own fur. So it’s not entirely natural for a bun to have a bed.

Many people have those type beds that looks like a big strawberry or a shark’s head for their buns. Those are good because they function as hidey houses, plus they’re very cute, of course. But a young bun would still probably mostly be interested in chewing a thing like that to shreds.

I’ve seen pictures all over of bunnies in that one doll bed from IKEA. Is the wood safe for them to chew, if it is, I think it would be great for my bun because it functions as a chew toy and a comfy spot.

The IKEA dollbed is made of pine. Dried pine wood is safe for buns, because they don’t eat massive amounts of it in one go. (It’s pine shavings you should avoid using with buns).
