› Forum › THE LOUNGE › what other pets do you folks have?
Now I’m pretty sure I saw this thread a bit ago, but I’m curious…am to know who else is just as crazy as me!!
5 cats (Bentley age 7, Jenny age 5, Ceasar age 5, Zoey age 3, Nuit age 9)
3 buns(Rocky age 2, Wilbur and Mimzy both age 8 months)
2 guinea pigs(luna age 1.5 yrs,Coco age 2 yrs)
2 gerbils(1 very old won’t die gerbil, and a 2 yr old,.)
2 mice (both about 8-9 months)
2 buns. : ( No other pets until I have my own place. Amy I wish I had as many as you, I love them all!
Oh wow! 0.o And I thought I had it bad!
Shadow-McKenzie River Husky, a very creaky 12 years, male
Taiku-Shadow’s son, 8 years going on his terrible twos
Myuu (affectionately known as Tooey)-American black shorthair cat, 8 years, female
Griffyn, alias Griffy, alias Cutie, alias Griff Grin, alias RatBoy, alias…oh, you get the idea-Asian Tiffany cat, 6 years (my baby!), male
Shimmer-goldfish, (gender? ummmmm….) has to be at least 8 years old…can’t seem to get rid of him ^^;
Hello Kitty-ABS/tuxedo, feral kitty-been with us since summer, not sure how old she is but figuring about a year
Who knows if she will stay this summer, she likes to be outside and is pretty barnsour right now. We should really rehome her since she doesn’t get along too well with the other two cats…but she and my bunny seem to adore each other! She guards him at his outdoor hutch/run.
and of course;
Mimzy-male Thuringer and about 1 year old (my OTHER baby!)
Pip-female Half Lionhead, tan, probably the same age.
Sadly, we’ve lost two darlings in just the last few months; Dusty, Taiku’s mom, about 12 years and a lovely golden lab/rottie cross-she was the BEST dog…and Fuzzy (Latte), a tabby persian cat just shy of 12 years…he died from some kind of seizure disorder in my arms (it was terrible!).
We lost Taiku’s sister, Willow, about the same time I was diagnosed with cancer, three years ago. Still miss her. We think she was poisoned.
Everyone but Taiku is parked in neutral, he gets his turn this spring, FINALLY! (poor guy!)
…do kids count? XD
I have a dog in Ohio named Nicky. When I got married and moved to Florida, I wantedto bring her here, but the rest of the family didn’t like that idea.
I had been begging my hubby for a dog for the whole time we are married. He had a bad experience with one with his ex wife and kept saying no.
Finally, I went to a friends house and met her ginea pig. Somehow after I met her we decided to get a bunnie. That is why Holly is my only Florida pet.
When I lived in Ohio I used to have goats, steers, dogs, cats, sheep and rabbits for pets. I was really going on withdrawel.
I’m LOL at Amy because I have a hamster that’s old and won’t die, just like the gerbil! He’s at at least twice his life expectancy and is a crazy little bastard when he’s actually awake!
Aside from the crazy old geezer, I have a pitbull named Hexx, a bird formally known as “Lady Wilkenshire,” a guinea pig named Toejam, and my bun, Frankie.
I’ve always loved animals and usually have at least 4 (I’d prob have more if I didn’t live with my parents still)! My parents are scared every time my boyfriend and I have an anniversary because she thinks we’ll get another pet!

I think my gerbil is 5 now, she’s blind & deaf, I’ll rach in to give her a treat and it’s obvious she has no idea where it is till she smells it!
Awww!
2 dogs (Cody 12 yrs and Bella 11 yrs both toy poodles)
3 Cats ( Abbey 4yrs Shelby 3yrs and Jemma 1yrs)
7 Rabbits (Ebony not sure what age. Gizmo, Willow, Tiger Lilly, Peanut, Marley and Zippy all 2mths)
9 Pond fish.
15 Tropical fish.
Trust me you don’t want that many animals, I love them all but it’s very time consuming and holidays are defiantly out of the question.
1 bun… baby… who’s a 7yr old feisty lop and
1 dog… bogart… who’s a happy mutt (suspected collie cross – i think there’s a bit o everything in thar)
i’d have seriously way more pets if i could afford the vet bills! some day when i win the lotto (which i never buy tickets for)…
I thought I had a lot of pets, some of you have more though.
Two buns- Henri- ten months, Acorn, around a year.
Three kitties- Trinity (calico), Bentley (brown/grey tabby), Mercury (blue, looks a lot like a russian blue), and Nemo (odd-eyed white) All of the kitties are between a year nine months and. . . . well almost a year old.
Three frogs- The albino African clawed frogs. The kitties like to watch them and I love that they occassionally sing to me.
20 yrs old! that’s awsome!!!
I have:
Cadbury (8 month old mini-rex)
Bella (5 year old golden retriever)
Lucky (25 year old Thoroughbred)
And I just lost KC last month. She was my 19 year old kitty.
2 dogs (Cody 12 yrs and Bella 11 yrs both toy poodles)
3 Cats ( Abbey 4yrs Shelby 3yrs and Jemma 1yrs)
7 Rabbits (Ebony not sure what age. Gizmo, Willow, Tiger Lilly, Peanut, Marley and Zippy all 2mths)

I do ok with the amount of animals i have and it is time consuming but I have no life! Also it seems rabbits and dogs are more maintenance then cats and I don’t have any pooches at the moment. I don’t think I could have more then 4 rabbits and only if they were bonded in pairs. I did have a dog about a year ago, however I was told she did great with cats when infact she wanted to eat them so I rehomed her as an only pet which i really lucked out cuz she was a pit mix, and a very obvious one at that. She looked like a 6 month old pit as she was so tiny everyone thought she was a puppy. I was told she was probably mixed with chihuahua actually but I think she has maybe boston terrier in her., her snout was a little shorter and she had slightly buggish eyes. She was great other then the whole cat thing.
Wow Steph!! 20 years!! Can I ask what you feed your cat? (ie. cat food, raw food diet etc?)
I have THREE bunnies now! ; Kokanee 1.5 years, Kahlua 0.5 years, Rupert unknown age
Mandy is our family dog, she lives at my parents house. She’s a ten year old husky cross, cancer survivor!
And I lease Jimbo, an eight year old thuroughbred cross
A hedgehog! How wild! How did you get him? Do the rabbits like him? Is he potty trained. What the heck is he like???? That just cracks me up!
i have one spoiled bunny.
it’s a full time job spoiling Meadow. i’m not sure if i’d have time for any other pets.
Beka,
I know what you mean. Holly is so demanding. I’m not sure if she’d let me spend time with other pets.
I have the 4 buns…
Annnnd… I also have 3 guinea pigs (2 males, 1 female) they are siblings and the female (Sammy) is separated from her brothers (Wyley and Stuart).
They were born on April 11th, 2007… I also had bought their Mom, Angel, but she passed away on October 26 (1 day after her 1 year birthday!).
I have 2 hedgehogs also – Butters & Mrs. Robinson.
Butters is a 5 month old Chocolate female hedgie, very friendly, though both the hedgies spend 22 hrs per day sleeping – and only come out at night!! Mrs. Robinson, on the other hand, has a sad tale. She’s about 2 years old and spent the first year and a half at a horrible chain pet store, where she got pregnant and lost the babies, never handled, forgotten – because she’s albino. So, she’s quite unhandleable right now. I’ve had her about a month or so, but we haven’t gotten far with "rehab"…I don’t have a pic of her but she’s white albino.
This pic of the guinea pigs is when they were from 1 week old!!! But it has all 3 of them in it!
Sammy is the dark brown/light brown one (female)
Wyley is the black one
Stuart is the white one!
Here is Butters:
Mrs Robinson is white…I have no pic! But picture Butters albino form!
In addition, I have the following:
– two 32 Gallon tanks with assorted fish
– five 20 gallon tanks with assorted fish
– one 15 gallon with assorted fish
– 5 bettas in 1-2 gallon tanks
I used to have 50 bettas!! And more fish, but I’m slowly getting down to a more manageable size!!
I then have my 2 big guys – my horses!
Kayo, 21 year old Appaloosa gelding:
Misty, 8 year old Paint/Shetland mare:
Your horses are beautiful!
2 Buns- Stormy (3year old Mini Rex)
Bindi (11 month old Mini Lop)
4 Cats- Savana, Andy, Mystee and Nefera (sorry don’t feel like posting all pics, I assure you they are all very cute)
1 Horse- RiverBreeze Mystic Bay
Wow, I wish I had horses. But we live in a subdivision. Not to mention that I have a neck/disc problem that flares pretty often- I would be afraid that I would not be able to care for them properly.
We have a "mini zoo" at our house- or at least that is what my husband calls it.
2 dogs- Skye- 2yr old, female spayed, Australian Shepherd- Blue Merle Molson- 1 /2 yr old, male neutered, Australian Shepherd, Red Tri
5 cats- All short haired- Oreo- black and white spayed female, 12 years old. Moonshine- 9 year old neutered male Silver tabby, Swizzle- 6 year old neutered male red Classic Tabby. Willow- 3 year old Siamese mix, female spayed,- white and grey tabby with blue eyes. And Pixel- 7 month old, female spayed, Black Smoke Tabby.
9 parrots- Kirby- a male African Red Bellied Parrot about 5 years old. Kirby is my pet bird. The others are all not as handleable though they all have personality. A pair on Timneh African greys- Jahazi and Beepers. 2 pairs of Senegals- Leo and Hera, Tuku and Kirby (yes, a 2nd bird named Kirby), a single Senegal- Kiwi and a single lovebird- Bud. I am hoping one day that the paired bird will lay some fertile egss- but even if they do not they have a forever home here.
I have a single Siamese point gerbil who I have not been able to pair for companionship- Orion. And 2 young female mice- a chocolate and white and a grey and white- Truffles and Bon Bon.
We also have numerous fish tanks- a freshwater 29 gallon. and 4 saltwater tanks- an 8 gallon dedicated mantis shrimp tank, a 12 gallon nano, a 20 gallon nano and a 100 gallon reef tank.

Can’t believe I forgot to mention Cotton- we got her about 2 weeks ago. Mini Lop, female, about 3 months old. I am not sure what color she is- only that she is considered "shaded".
Oh my goodness! ^^ Suddenly my zoo is looking smaller! XD
I envy you folks with horses. I love horses. I was around them all the time as a child (my grandfather raised/trained Arabians, but my favorites are the palomino, piebald and appaloosa. Unfortunately, I am DEATHLY allergic to their dander. We have horses all around us where we live, and if a good breeze gets going in hay fever season, I am popping Benadryl like candy.
My poor little girl wanted to learn to ride, but my allergies prevent my riding with her, and her daddy has a fractured back. I am also starting to develop problems with my dogs and cats. Funny the long-haired ones don’t bother me, only the short haired ones. Mimzy is the only pet I have, besides the fish, who doesn’t make me sneeze. :/
MimzMum-
If you are starting to show allergies to your cats- there is something that can help. I work at a vet clinic and it has been shown that mixing injectable Acepromazine with sterile saline and adding it to your cats food or water daily- helps change the proteins in the cats saliva. And it is usually the protiens that people are sensitive too. It is not expensive to try it. Ask you vet-as Acepromazine is a sedative and therefore a prescription. But it is mixed and given at such low dose it does NOT sedate the cat.
Julie
Oh wow, thanks Julie! ^^ I have hope I can keep my feral cat if she doesn’t make me hive with her slobber or her nose wetness! *dances*
I’ll definitely ask my vet about that. Too bad it doesn’t sedate the cat, trust me, Hello Kitty could use it! 0.o
Any idea if it will work for dogs?
*writes down the info*
i just have a craisin. lol.
I have 3 snakes, 2 cats, a dog, plus 10 bunnies! My boyfriend has a tarantula too EWWW! Definitely a houseful though! hehe
We have our four buns (listed below) AND a hedgehog named Snuggles
O my gosh you’re hedgehog is soooooo cute! I never knew they could be pets! Where did you get him!?
2 dogs – willow and sweep both border collies
2 gerbils – pinky and perky
some fish and no bunnies yet.. till next week yay!

I know that this response is really late, but I’m jealous of those of you who have hedgehogs!
I had one growing up in Texas, but they’re illegal as pets in California. Same with ferrets, which I also ADORE.
