I am thinking of getting one of those FLIP video cameras, but I’d like to hear from others first as to what kind of camera you use to videograph your bunnies?

I need something light and preferably small, but it has to interface with the computer or it’s not going to help me show off my babies to y’all. ^_^

The family is tired of seeing my stills.

        What do you use?

I just use the video function on my Sony Cybershot digital camera. They’re relatively inexpensive, easy to use, and a great digi cam. You need a larger memory stick to take longer videos, but you can order them on ebay from overseas for super cheap (even with shipping to AK!)

I have a kodak easy share camera and use the video function. It works really well actually. I have a pretty big memory card, so I’ve never had a problem w/ running out of room.

the best cameras i have always found to be samsungs stupidly the last camera i got was a kodak, and its just crap, its loud and the picture quality is rubbish, i do have a canon video camera too (just a cheap one that has tapes it cost me like 40 quid of ebay) but it is brilliant. Personally i would recommend a samsung as they have always worked well, you can probably get a 10mp cheap now.

I also use a Sony Cybershot (W120 I think is the model) and the video function on it. I like it because I can use the same camera to take video and still pics, and I normally don’t want to take long videos (an entire birthday party for example) so no worries about what I can fit on my memory card.

I use an old Nikon Coolpix for both stills and video. The video quality is pretty bad, but it is fine for YouTube.

OOOH I have a FLIP and I LOOOVE it. I have yet to video my bunnies, but I use it for my rats and my horses and it works great. =] I ESPECIALLY LOVE the part where you just flip out the USB!

Thanks everyone! You’ve all given me some good ideas here.
I have to laugh though, because I use a Nikon Coolpix for my stills! xD Osprey, what model is yours? Mine’s a 5700.

I have an old Sony that takes about 15 seconds of MPEG but the battery’s never lasted more than a few minutes on it, even when it’s fully charged, so it’s a piece.

Our Coolpix is a 5200, the one with the really small display. The little door to the battery is also broken and flaps around, but it keeps taking photos and videos so wee keep using it.

Mine was a cast off from my dad. He and my stepmom take loads of pictures, she’s really good at photography, and this and the Sony are both camreas he gave to me when they got someting new they liked better.

I find I am completely clueless reading the hand guide for it, but I’d better look and see if there’s video function on it, just in case. Until then I just have to be satisfied with ‘point and shoot.’ ^_^

Geez, my battery is on the bottom of my camera. 0_0 Does yours drop out when the door falls off?

Ooooh, the 5700 is a nice instrument. It is an SLR. Those do not do videos, but they take great stills.

The battery does not fall out, it clips into its bay just fine.  Only the door hangs open.

I find it’s a bit difficult to get the focus just right sometimes though. I will press the shutter button too soon before it’s done focusing, or too late and I’ve moved just enough (usually breathing-can’t help that) so that the picture blurs in the end. But I’m getting the hang of it. ^_^
Can’t argue with a free camera! I just find it sad that I can’t get Fiver’s binkies on film, even with the dynamic shutter speed on this model.

Mine are rechargeable too, they just don’t hold a charge worth a darn. >.<

Fireworks789, can you maybe explain how your FLIP video works? Is it very easy to use and attach to your computer?

those are the best ones, they hold their charge brilliantly, and the single packs of batteries (the 4 pack without the charger) are only like 2.50 ($5) here so i use them in everything, they are in my remotes, my smoke alarm, my phones everything when they run out i just stick in new ones and put those on charge, i think i have saved a small fortune over the years considering a 4 pack of regular batteries is £2 ($4)

Ah, yes, we have those kind of batteries…actually I was discussing the camera batteries for the Sony and the Nikon, they are a flat, brick like battery that is supposed to last and recharge for at least a year, but I’m going through them in months. >.<
Hm. Guess I should see what kind of battery the FLIP uses too. Up here, for some reason, we go through batteries and light bulbs like stink. Something about the lack of humidity or the proximity to the pole or some weird stuff like that.
