        Just curious.

        What is your rabbit routine?

How often do you clean their litter boxes?

When do you clean their “space” and how often?  What do you do when you clean (ie vacuum, spray their area, etc…).

        When is feeding time?

        When is their “play” time?

I am down to four rabbits right now which is the least I’ve ever had…when I started on BB I think I had about 16 rabbits from my foster group and rescue and each year my rabbit population has slowly decreased due to adoptions and rabbits crossing the bridge.  It feels weird to only have 4 litter boxes to clean right now (well 5 since I am rabbit sitting my little rabbit couple that I take care of frequently).

I clean Lady’s boxes every other day, vacuum her space daily, with a weekly vinegar scrubdown (shes on tile floors).
Samson gets every 3 days or so for boxes, and I only do a vinegar scrub down…monthly maybe? She’s a really clean rabbit. Hopefully Lady will too once she’s spayed. We have like, 7 litterboxes right now between the 2 of them!

They get pellets in the AM, Lady sometimes gets second scoop at night. I refill the hay as needed, but they both have a ton at all times. Salads are every night around 8pm.

They play all day, as soon as I wake up, I separate the house and let the buns out. Samson gets the hall and bedrooms, Lady gets the living room and kitchen. Samson usually runs straight to my room and sleeps under the bed until my husband comes home that evening, Lady alternated between binkying around the living room and sleeping in her pen

Wow! 16 rabbits, I don’t think I’d be able to handle that!

The bunnies get half of their pellets around 6 a.m. (whether or not I’m sleeping in that day). I also refresh water and add more hay then, right after school, and before I go to bed. They get their second half of pellets around 5 p.m. and their papaya tablet. I usually give them their salads sometime at night.

Their play time is basically 24/7, but when I get up I take down the baby gate so they can have most of the rest of the house.

Before I leave for school or when I get up if I don’t have school I rearrange misplaced things and do a quick sweep. I end up scooping their 3 litterboxes 2-3 times a day, sometimes more. Wilbur LOVES to binky when I’m scooping them, little weirdo. The boxes usually get completely changed every other day which is when I wipe them down with vinegar. I vacuum their area about 3-4 times a week. I rarely do a major vinegar wipe down of their entire area because it is mostly carpet. I wash their bowls once a week. I clean up any pee spots from Totoro as soon as I see them.

Daily routine consists of going into their room in the morning to open the curtains, give them their treats and kisses, and then letting them out of their cage. They basically do whatever they want during the day. In the evening, I will freshen their hay and give them veggies. I don’t give them pellets until bed time because that’s how I get them back into the cage. That’s about it.

I clean their litter box whenever it starts looking a little full, which is every other or couple of days. I will vacuum up stray poops as I see them. I don’t clean their entire room every day, just when it looks like it needs to be vacuumed. I won’t use anything except the vacuum. I will shampoo the carpet in there if there’s a pee spot, but I haven’t had to worry about that as much now. I will super clean their cage every couple of months, but that gets neglected a little during the winter months since I can’t take the cage outside. I suppose that will change when they get their new hutch, if and when my husband ever gets it done.

Every morning DH feeds them veggies and pellets when he gets up – usually by 7 or 8.

I feed them veggies and pellets every night at bedtime, usually 9:30 or 10.

I fill up their hay when necessary – usually once every day or sometimes day and a half.

I clean the litter boxes once a week – usually Friday or Saturday, but I fill fresh hay on top through the week so they’re not sitting on dirty litter. While I’m doing that I clean out the pet store cage that holds the litter boxes. Maybe once every two or three weeks I sweep out their whole room and vacuum their rug (it’s all just hair and cardboard, so I don’t bother doing it more often).

They come out for some play time after they’ve finished breakfast and before I leave for work (if we’re home all day, then they generally stay out until 9 or 10 before going in for a nap). I let them out when I get home from work and they usually come out for a few minutes, then go back to sleep until 8 or so.

I wake up whenever in the morning… depends on my job or if I am off. Her grandpa (aka 2nd slave) likes to feed Chacha her breakfast pellets. She gets one tablespoon or less.

She gets hay when I wake up, and hay before I leave (and some new hay in her litter box). She gets her dinner greens at 9-9:30 pm at night, and more hay.

Litterboxes get changed every 3-4 days, depending on how much poo she leaves. Her area gets vacuumed every week or two weeks.

She has a simple routine, despite her bossy personality

I feed my bunnies hay right when I get up. Then I feed them their veggies around noonish. Then they get their pellets right before I go to bed and I refill there water then to. I give them hay throughout the day when they need it.

I clean their whole cage/my room every 2-3 days which includes, Litter boxes emptied and scrubbed, Cage swept, vacuumed and scrubbed down with vinegar and water, and carpet and hard floors in my room vacuumed.

Their play time is still getting figured out. They have free roam of my whole room 24/7 they are never shut in their cage. I am desperately trying to figure out how to keep the cats out of the living room while making sure they can get to the litter box. Play time with rabbits and 5 cats is very difficult :/

Mocha, I’m going to be in a similar position to you when we get a puppy – playtimes will have to all changed around until the puppy is older and trustworthy with the bunnies. I’m glad the bunnies have their own room now.

I clean the litterbox every day or two, but I sweep the litter screen of poop at least twice a day. I keep a little bristle broom and dust pan right next to the cage for that purpose and for sweeping out the whole cage each morning. Vacuuming gets done… not too often. Usually DH does it because it’s a chore I loathe. The cage gets spot cleaned with vinegar every day, too, multiple times, but that’s only been happening recently; with Hodari being sick she has started to pee over the edge of the box.

For feeding time, I give her fresh hay in the morning and throughout the day as needed. A papaya treat in the morning, too, and fresh water. Dinner is at 6:00 PM and consists of pellets and meadow hay. Her veggies are given at night now. With her being sick she has decided she will only eat a small portion of them, an ounce or so, and she will only eat them before bedtime at ten o’clock. If I offer to them earlier, they will be snubbed.

Her playtime isn’t really specific right now, but she gets at least four hours out of the cage.

How often do you clean their litter boxes? – I scoop them out every other day, or daily, depending on how messy it gets – since they aren’t too into using the litterbox atm, it doesn’t get dirty too fast. Total change once a week.

When do you clean their “space” and how often? What do you do when you clean (ie vacuum, spray their area, etc…). – Nightly I have to take a broom and dust pan (wood floors, so a vacuum doesn’t work well lol) and sweep up all the droppings they insist on marking with. Then I take a rag and wipe down the urine stains off the vinyl I put down to protect the floor.

When is feeding time? – They have hay all the time, which they love – 5pm they get let out and get “floor hay” (living room floor gets a big pile of hay put on it, since it obviously tastes better in the living room than in their own room.. and it prevents them eating the carpet), 7ish they get a salad, 9pm they get pellets (bed time). 5pm is when they wake up from their morning nap.

When is their “play” time? 5pm-9pm they get to come out, weekends later. They have a whole master bedroom to themselves though, so to them play time is all the time. lol

It’s really interesting to see the differences between the bunnies 🙂

Charlie & Stevie are super clean, so I only vacuum their enclosure once a week, and I change the litter trays every 3nd day.

Feeding time is any time for them…but I feed them in the morning and night at about 6.

They’re free range so playtime is any time, but they’re at their most active just after breakfast and dinner.

I clean the box screens a couple of times a day and scoop the wet corner of the litterbox once a day, he always uses the same corner so I push the clean litter back and add fresh litter to the front of the box. Every week or so I wash the box with vinegar and water. I vacuum his home every other day.

Feeding times are spread throughout the day. Romaine lettuce early, cilantro and parsley about 10, a few carrot tops, and about 1/2 teaspoon of carrot slices and a blueberry at noon. We repeat the lettuce and cilantro and parsley in the evening and he gets a tablespoon of pellets about 10pm. (I think I remember reading that since rabbits are grazing types their feeding should be spread throughout the day.) When we are not home we use a cat feeder that opens at set times. I change the water dish every day and make sure the hay basket is full at all times.

He is out of his home for one-half to an hour in the morning and 3-4 hours in the evening. More on weekends. Overall, we think he is a very spoiled bunny, but worth every bit of it.

Huck gets veggies in the morning, around 7. She gets to run around while I take a shower and get ready for work. She is very good on her own, she usually eats and then loafs outside the bathroom door.
She stays in her room until either I or BF get home, around 3-5 (depending on which day it is). Weekends, she is allowed out as long as we are home but she usually stays in her room until the afternoon anyway.

Grooming time is around 8. I spend about 10 min brushing or plucking and trim her nails once/month.
At 9:30, pellet time. She usually eats half her pellets and takes a nap, then eats the other half. Then she comes out cuddles with me until maybe around midnight.

Her litter box is huge (24″x32″) and she only uses one corner so I turn it around after about 1 1/2 days and change it about every 3 days. She gets more hay as needed. Lately, that has been a lot more often than it used to be. I vaccuum hay up once a week.

Bunjamin’s litter box just got upgraded to full size (he was in smaller corner unit before we figured out he didn’t spray and when he was small enough to fit in it). So he gets a change every other day unless its not really full or sooner if its full.

I clean his space when there’s more than a couple droppings or right before or after I clean litter box. Usually at least once a day unless he was a very good boy that day. He’s rarely on carpet anymore so I just use hand broom and dust pan from my days in Cosmetology school. If there’s one or two on carpet I use tissue.

He’s always stocked on hay and pellets since he’s a baby. He gets fresh water every night. And the vegetable part is where he’s spoiled. He expects when I get up, he’ll get his romaine lettuce. If he gets something else he snubs it and if I don’t give him anything he rattles/chews whatever the enclosure is that day. (we’re split living right now).

He’s almost always in his play enclosure at my parents unless I’m not around for a long period of time and he has to go into his cage and hates it and I feel bad about it. And my place, he lives in his play room. But I’ve noticed he’s most active between 9-11 am and 10-1am. He’s a late nighter!

cotton sleeps during the day.   I clean litterboxes 2x a week his house 1x a week sometimes 2x a week.    When  a bit of urine calcifies I soak in vinegar

Cotton explores the top of his house when I take it off he bottom piece.   lol.   He supervises.   He pays hardly any mind to the vacuum.

I use the electric sweeper when I don’t want to break out the big guns (hoover vac)   I sweep up hay that falls on the way to the litterbox and use the elec sweeper after I sweep up the hay

In the evenings cotton comes up to be petted.    Of course it is near his pellet time.   He gets a small amount of pellers like 12 at nite.   I measure out just a little under 1/4 pellets in the morning.   I do tha so he doesn’t get too fat when I give him a few pellets at nite.

When I am out of greens he gets wild grasses st augustine

He LOVES pepper mint sticks and it is that time of year.   So he gets a small amount.  I cut back on other treats to keep him from getting too fat.

This reminds me of when I had Ruby.   She got peppermint stuck in her hair and she couldn’t reach it to get it out.  I was wondering why she kept trying to scratch an unusual spot with her hind foot.   She couldn’t reach it with her foot either.  lol.

Gosh I miss her so much.  I don’t want to start crying.   I see pictures now n then.  I want her back so bad but if we get caught again we get evicted. Grrr.

I clean Dexter’s litter box probably every 3 days.  He has removable carpets in his condo so I take them out and vacuum them and vacuum the tile on his bottom level.   He gets fed at 8am on the dot every morning or else!  He gets half of his daily pellets, a bunch of cilantro and fresh hay.  His playtime starts at 5pm everynight (or else again lol).  He also has his dinner at 5 with his other half of his pellets, another bunch of cilantro, and more hay.  I work from home so he gets fresh hay through out the day.  He has his own bunny room with his condo but I have to have him away during the days.  His play time is usually from 5pm to midnight.  He gets a blueberry or some more cilantro for a treat and then goes back in his condo for the night.  He has been on the same routine all his life and it’s so funny how he knows what time it is.

                                        Just curious.

                                        What is your rabbit routine?

How often do you clean their litter boxes?

3-4 times a day.  Sometimes 5.  His Highness demands a clean box at all times.

When do you clean their “space” and how often?  What do you do when you clean (ie vacuum, spray their area, etc…).

This I don’t do as often as it really doesn’t get dirty, just hay strewn everywhere.  Once every 2 weeks or so, take everything apart and vacuum it.  Spray it down with vinegar maybe every other month, it really doesn’t need it.

                                        When is feeding time?

First thing when I get up(6am ish), then right before work (8-9ish), lunch if I can (noonish), when I get home from work (5-6ish), and right before bed (11-midnight or so).  Each meal includes greens, a treat and adding a bit of “fresh” hay.  I fill up his pellets as needed, usually every 3 days or so.  He’s not a big pellet eater and really doesn’t like the Oxbow pellets much..

Water dish is dumped, rinsed, and refilled daily when he’s not molting.  When he’s molting it’s dumped, rinsed, and refilled 5-6 times a day.

                                        When is their “play” time?

Usually at least an hour in the morning, usually more like 1.5 or 2 hours.  Then 4-6 hours at night after work.

                                          What is your rabbit routine?

Am: 1 scoop of pellets (1/8 cup) & a papaya tablet. Tait binkies around like crazy whenever I get up now, due to the papaya tablets
Pm: Veggies (2-3 cups) and he usually gets a treat before bed as well
I will give more hay whenever I see it getting low

How often do you clean their litter boxes?

usually every second day. I will empty, wash and refill it

When do you clean their “space” and how often? What do you do when you clean (ie vacuum, spray their area, etc…).

I usually tidy everyday, then do a full cleaning every week/week & a half. I vaccume and wash dishes and switch out towels/blankets. Once a month or so I will take the carpet cleaner through

                                          When is their “play” time?

All the time is play time

I quess Im a clean fanatic because I clean blossoms box every morning before work. And she has a grate on hers so she does not stand in it. her cage is on a rug so I pick up stray poops and hay every morning and night and vacumn once a week. I give her fresh hay in the morning and a little bit of pellets and then fresh hay at night with the rest of the pellets. She goes into her favorite spot under the tv and sleeps there all day and will come out to eat around 5 and then she becomes a crazy bunny after midnight. When i come down in the morning the shredded paper in her diging box is all over the room!!

This is a great timed question because everything is about to change with the move! We are going back to condo-the choice for a bedroom had to do with the reno’s we were doing and the flooring type, such that they couldn’t come out to play and needed a 24/7 play room. Now we’ll be moving to condo’s and I’m going to be piling through the forum on homes to get some good ideas. If we don’t like it there is a great room in the basement they could have, but I think a condo will be much better to clean, and they’ll be out and about visiting company again. With their bedroom I have to take people in to visit and it will be nicer for them to choose when they are feeling sociable!

                                                But for now

                                                What is your rabbit routine?

How often do you clean their litter boxes? We have five litter boxes for two bunnies, I dump and clean one once a day, there are two they prefer but all get used.

When do you clean their “space” and how often?  What do you do when you clean (ie vacuum, spray their area, etc…). I sweep every day as Kahlua likes to dump hay and then Rupert decides that is a toilet so we must sweep often. I do a ‘full clean’ -dump everything, bleech litter boxes and wash bowls once a week and a deep clean every month-where the floor gets thorougly washed. In general that’s what we need, but sometimes, Kahlua will dump a litter box or two and Rupert will toilet everywhere so more cleaning is necessitated for that.

When is feeding time? I ’check’ twice a day-when I wake up and when I get home from work. I do a full service around 9pm or so-dump water, water bottles (piggies), I check the food dish but I only top it off twice a week as they don’t eat pellets often, put new hay, and bring in dinner-veggies and fruit. We do treats usually after work, and often it’s for ‘work’-so they have to do some tricks. Kahlua only does beg, But Rupert does beg, spin, and climb on me, and target. I’m working on getting both of them and the dog to sit nicely and take treats together (Mikey likes rabbit treats, more so for the inclusion I’m sure)

When is their “play” time?  For now-they can play and do whatever whenever they like, but in the new house they’ll likely be out in the evening just like they were in the apartment previous to us going ‘free range’. They have the whole bedroom (guinea pigs are on the desk so no floor space is lost) and they have a window seat which they use a lot. They play and do things mostly in the late evening.

                                                  1) Wake up in the morning, sweep fallen poop and grass out and vacuum the garage, then give medicine.

                                                  2) Replenish food and water

                                                  3) Roll up the futon bed and let Ralphy out to play

                                                  4) Add more food and water

                                                  5) Bedtime, Give medicine “Goodnight Ralphy!”

                                                  I clean the cage every 2-3 days. That’s my schedule. : )

                                                    Our routine…

How often do you clean their litter boxes? I refresh litter every day but clean the box completely 2x per week.

When do you clean their “space” and how often? What do you do when you clean (ie vacuum, spray their area, etc…). I sweep up the poos that fly out of the litter box when they jump in and out every day, lol. I vacuum the apartment once a week. I don’t usually need to spray their area with anything…just clean out the litter box and sweep up the strays, vacuum the endless amount of shedding!

When is feeding time? They get 1/4 cup of pellets in the morning when I wake up (usually like 6:30 or a little later on weekends), and 1/4 cup of pellets when I get home from work (evening time), and they get veggies before bedtime. Then of course, their hay is filled as needed.

When is their “play” time? Play time is all the time around here. These guys are totally free roam!

This is the usual routine…and if it’s off schedule at all they are sure to remind me…

I get up around 4:30 and dressed for my run…before they get breakfast I say good morning in head/nose rubs, some kisses, bc once I give them breakfast I don’t matter bc I’m not edible….This time of the morning they are just adorable too, sweet, calm, and one of the few times of day Blu loves getting pet. I just wish I had more time to waste in the AM!

4:45-5 AM (a little later on weekends) – I give them both salads. After I get back from my run, Oreo gets a tablespoon of pellets…I try to space it out a little so she eats her salad first. Blu doesn’t get pellets anymore although I know he’d love them

Sometime after this, when the husband gets up, they get fresh hay in their racks and brown bags (they love!), plus a layer of litter on top of the dirty in the box…and hay replenished in the litter box as well. If hubby is traveling, I do all of this at the same time in the morning…

If I take too long on the weekends to bring breakfast, they give up and go to sleep. Oreo will come back out when I bring salad, but Blu chooses sleep first, food second…like my hubby. Oreo is like me…lol

Dinner time is 6:30, but sometimes it’s closer to 7, and they don’t like waiting! In fact, they’re usually in their “spot” waiting for dinner as early as 5:30. They both get salad, and again Oreo gets pellets, but I wait a few hours to give her those.

Blu is the first out for playtime at 7pm. He hangs with us in the family room and entertains us. Oreo throws a fit sometimes because she wants to come out too..but once he leaves the bunny room Oreo settles down. Sometime around 8 or a little after, Blu runs back to his pen (usually on his own…they really are creatures of habit!) and Oreo gets let out for a few hours. Blu tends to be a lot more work to watch at times, so we always have Oreo out second bc it’s more “relaxing”…although we give Blu longer than an hour as much as possible. I wish I could give them both a lot more time. Oreo ends up chilling next to me rather than running for a lot of it anyway, so I justify it that way I guess haha. I think (and hope) Blu will get better with time..he just likes to chew carpet and Oreo doesn’t. So he needs constant monitoring…he tries being sneaky with it…I think he’s improving though. Plus they both have pretty spacious pens that they can run around in all day long.

After playtime/before bed, they get fresh water, hay and dirty litter gets scooped out and replenished with fresh + fresh hay. Blu waits for his little brown bag to be filled up with hay…if not, he’ll continue to toss the bag till hubby takes care of it.haha. Then a lot of times he just dumps the hay out the bag anyhow…messy messy Blu!

The floors need to be swept daily, I do my best. Their litterboxes get completely cleaned out w/ vinegar/water (50:50) once a week, occasionally once every 2 weeks, but I try to do once. Their pens get cleaned, blankets washed, floor swept, etc, once every 2 weeks I guess, but I try to do it once a week. Even if I don’t thoroughly sweep up all the hay in the pen I usually change the blankets weekly especially for Oreo because she sleeps on hers and it gets loaded with fur when she’s shedding…and I notice it bothers her eyes when it gets to be too “furry”.

I’ve realized the majority of the cleaning I do in my house revolves around them!
