Hi all
What is your bunny’s favorite treat or thing to eat? What do they go crazy for?
My bunnies go absolutely CRAZY for their papaya treat. It’s the only treat they get, so when they hear the bag, they both come running! Chloe loves her popsicle sticks soaked in apple juice, but Kahlua doesn’t care for them at all.
Can you post a pic of your bunny Kahlua??? I can’t believe someone has a bunny named the same as mine! Too cute!!
My daughters bunny, Bella, goes bonkers for canned pumpkin (100% pumpkin, no sugar). If her mommy just walks in the kitchen Bella’s there beggin at the fridge. We’ve not found a fresh fruit or vegetable that she likes. She’s young we hope her tastes will change as she gets older. Don’t get in between her and her pumpkin!
Papaya tablets for Floppy!
Kahlua’s picture is in the Vogue section! You can check him out there.
anything. Pepper thinks with her tummy.
Bunnies4Ever! I can’t believe it, your kahlua is a lionshead too!! too cute!!!
Here is MY kahlua lionhead
(although I am such a picture poster I am sure you have seen her many times hehe!!)
[script removed]
Frankie goes crazy for anything even remotely sweet… he gets different dried fruits as a treat or something fresh from my little herb garden. When he knows I have the treat box, he’ll crawl all over me and start doing tricks and stuff. I taught him how to stand on his hind legs as a trick a few months ago and that has turned into his begging… but he’ll also get into his cage and look at me like “look, I went in my cage and I’m being good… bring on the treats!!!”
Awww….Too cute!!!
Is this the papaya treats everyone is talking about?

OMG! Your baby is sooooo cute! I just love him! Kahlua was my first bunny. He was about 4 months old when I got him. He was fostered by a woman was is Hawaiian. She named him Kahlua. I just love your bunny’s ears! Aren’t their ears expressive!? I can always tell the type of mood Kahlua’s in by his ears. My vet who has neutered/spayed many bunnies had never seen a lionhead before. When I took Kahlua in for his first exam, the vet took him all over the office showing him of! They thought he was the most precious bunny they’ve ever seen! I love the lionhead breed.
Both Jessica & Leo go crazy for craisins! I call them the craisinators! My hubby just picked up these new raisins (golden, regular, and cranberries), they are HUGE!!!! When I was taking Leo back & forth to the vet, I pulled one out to give Leo a post-exam treat and the vet asked if it was a prune b/c it was so big.
B/c I’ve been putting weight back on Mr. Leo, I’ve been giving him homemade smoothies and bananas. He likes his nana cut into lil’ chunks and heated in the microwave for about 8 seconds. He goes crazy for his warm nanas. Jessi is a little extra chunky right now…so she gets super excited by the nanas.
PS Leo is a lionhead & he too is a favorite at the vet. He just has the dark mane around his head. You can actually spike it up, so he looks kinda punky. He’s the only lionhead at the practice and its a huge practice.
Hmm, my two love bananas and bunny cookies. In that order. I love watching their fannies twitch when they eat their banana, they love it so much.
awww…yeah my vet is waiting with baited breath for kahlua to come in as she hasn’t seen a lionhead yet either…My mom takes our dog there and has all the vets very excited to see her!
I have noticed you can style their hair!! Everyone says that when they meet her, that her hair is like a troll doll cuz you can style and it stays! Lionheads are defo a very cute breed!!!
Idk what Pancake likes he likes everything lol.
Paws down….Papaya tablets…..Shadow will come flying at the sound of the bottle being opened. Next favorite, apples and bananas, we have to put the fruit bowl where he can’t get to it. He can defy gravity so that is getting tricky.
I know this is off-topic but Bunzai, I’ve been meaning to ask you about the Monty Python quote. Were able to see the Broadway production "Spamalot"? Oh my word it’s funny and not to mention the movies are great too!
For my bunnies it is raisins for sure. They learned that raisins come in a plastic crinkly bag, and so now if I even TOUCH a bag (e.g., grocery bag, ziploc bag, cellophane wrapper) I have 7 bunnies shoving their noses as far through their cage bars as they can to make sure they don’t miss out on the raisin rounds!
Stormy goes bananas for bananas. He just gets a little taste but he loves it. I gave them some honeydew today and they were pretty excited by it.
Coney loves, and I mean loves, his Critter berries. He knows that I give them to him when I am working on my computer. His apartment is right next to my desk so he runs to the top level and shoves his nose through the bars. He only gets two a day but boy does he try to get more than that. When he hears the bag open or even when I move it on my desk, he comes running. He does like craisins but not rasins. He is also not a big banana eater, although he will eat it sometimes.
Connor loves his papaya tablet. His sense of smell is very strong because he can not see so the minute I even get close to him with the container his head is bobbing up and down trying to smell out where the goodie is. He gets three a day because he is shedding so bad and he is a very large bun. He also loves rasins and crasins. Bananas are probally his next favorite thing, he gets a small chunk and he sits there and smacks his lips as he is chewing. That has to be the loudest thing that he eats.
Both of my boys enjoy the Critter Carrots from oxbow as well, but they take a really long time to chew. They are super hard.

I have noticed you can style their hair!!
Hahaha definitely, Brian often gets a hairpoofing Rockabilly stylee, when I get the brush anywhere near him!!
Currently Brian & Bettie’s favourite treat is the newly painted skirting in the newly painted bedroom (ALL night!!), Brian goes loopy for peas, we sit together on the floor, I pop them open, and he pops his front paws up on my lap and hoovers them up 1 straight after another. They both come running when they hear the rustling bag of their odour treat things, usually crashing into me as they’ve sped out too fast to stop!! Grapes is a top fave too, along with parsley.
All my buns like chicory. Muffin really digs snapped off apple and pear tree twigs w/ the buds still on. Louie loves raisins and dried fruit and Athena will eat anything… Anything….
watermellon and peaches….right now its sweet potatos
kale… thats baby’s fav. she’ll toss all other greens over her shoulder (saving them for later of course) to get to the kale in her bowl. although she’d probably pass by greens for any small fruit treats. i feed her greens in the morning & they’re usually gone before treat time!
Tracy, I would be really careful with the sweet potatoes. They contain a lot of starch which can cause an impaction and aren’t really recommended for the bunny diet. I would really recommend trying another bunny-safe alternative like maybe a snatch of pumpkin (canned without spices). Here is a really good comprehensive list of bunny-safe foods and a list of not-so-bunny safe foods I recommed you take a look at, maybe there is something you haven’t tried and it will delight your bunny!

Friday is payday, and that’s when I go bunny-veggie shopping…I think I am going to pick up some canned pumpkin-i’m so excited to see how they like it!!
I guess the reason I started this thread is my spoiled goons go crazy for nothing!! I really want to know what I can try to get their attention…They have tonnes of variety but I try all kinds of ‘treats’ and they might have a bite or too, but darned if they will get excited for it or do anything for it!! *sigh*
Wow that is really unusual!
Wow that is really unusual!
I am realizing that…*sigh* …I guess since it is both of them that don’t get excited, it must be me!
My boyfriend says they are so spoiled that that is why they don’t care about treats… They even take almost a full day to eat all their fresh food! They do finish it, they just don’t rush it and pig out-Although I guess that’s good, as I can free feed them everything and not worry… hmm…I will let you know how the pumpkin goes! hopefully I can get my hands on some papaya tablets soon! -although they’ve had fresh papaya and dried papaya and eat it fine, but …don’t get excited for it …
baby doesn’t get excited over food either. she’ll eat up all the kale in her bowl before the other greens and she gobbles up blueberries, but she will not come running for them. so it’s been interesting to read all the stories about buns & what they’ll do for their treats! sometimes if i hold a piece of hay or kale she’ll latch on & yank her head back… YOINK! i don’t think thats excitement so much as it’s serious rabbitude. lol
Nel absolutely loves bananas. Of course I do too, so we often end up sharing. I actually am at the point where I feel guilty if I eat a whole banana and don’t give her some.
Scarlett, I just noticed your question. No have not seen Spamalot yet. I am thinking of taking my brothers for their birthday in March….assuming I hit a winning lottery.
We are all Monty Python fans and now I am in the midst of an argument with them, they are telling me the quote is "that rabbit is dynamite" not bunny. I will have to rent the movie again to settle that one.
Last night the Weeny Bean took on a taste for…………..
oh dear! i see the toilet paper / basket decoy didn’t work
Update/
Couldn’t find any pumpkin…
Tried a cranberry and a couple blueberries last night…all uneaten this morning…
*sigh*
Any other treat suggestions?
Kokaneeandkahlua -If your bunnies aren’t that excited about food treats, there are other ways to spoil them!
Maybe you can use toys as treats instead? My bunnys love the willow bundles binky bunny sells, willow balls and even apple twigs.
…..*red face*…they have every toy I’ve ever been able to find for bunnies hahah…seriously…and cat/bird toys where approp… we have a tupperware basket for them and we rotate them …
But those willow toys from this site, we got one and it was done in two days-so as soon as they deliver to canada I am ordering a case ! hehe
Meadow just tasted grapes and bananas very recently… she loves them both, but bananas are the clear winner… no theatrics to get them, since she gets them so rarely anyways, but i’ll probably be ordering some of these papaya treats everyone seems to love… she’s never had raisins or craisins…
Today Coney was munching on a piece of hay and he heard me shake the Critter Berries bag and he started chewing as fast as he could. He saw the tablet and then his eyes seemed to bulge. He ended up biting the piece of hay in half so his mouth would be free for the tablet. He does not like the Papaya tablets like Connor does, yet Connor loves the Papaya and hates the Critter Berries. Rabbits are like people to each their own.
Does anyone make their bun do anything special for a treat? With Coney I make him give me a bunny kiss before he can have one. Connor just thumps when I try this on him.
No problem Bunzai! I actually got to go and it was great! I hope you hit a winning lottery, otherwise you can check some of it out on their web site: http://www.montypythonsspamalot.com/ Click on the box that says Video and you can watch some clips!
Unfortunately your brothers are right, the quote is rabbit, not bunny but it’s cute anyway.
Cowie loves raisins too, I wonder if she would like cranraisins? I swear it’s like crack to this rabbit, she hears the kitcen cabinet open and she knows, she comes running and then automatically starts doing circles around your feet, it’s so funny. I think if I put the effort in I might be able to make her do backflips for them, haha, that would be awesome!
Love the avatar CowieCow, gorgeous bun! Mine are like flies round the proverbial when raisins are anywhere near. Also pinenuts and almonds. That reminds me, i still must try and get a recording of them slurrping up a grape.
