I noticed tonight that Chacha had a few stringy poos, so I decided to pluck some loose furs off of her.

I was going through her fur when I saw this:

It is fur.. it feels like fur but what? Is it fur? o_O I’m confused lol.

I have once over plucked her that it turned into a small bald spot, but I’ve never seen anything quite like THIS before  Her undercoat is usually a light grey, as you can see and the top fur is black. Is this just fur growing back? It feels like a patch of fur, or SOMETHING . It doesn’t seem to hurt if I press on it.

Yep, it’s the new fur growing.

I’m also seeing shedding to skin aand fur growing in like that. 1st time after having had rabbits for 3 years.

I remember the first time I saw short, dark-colored fur growing on Ms. Rabbit’s back. It was right around a nasty bite wound, so for a few seconds, I was convinced that she had some terrible infection. That’s what you get for having your first bunny be a REW, I suppose.

Your post title made me lol…
I notice that after a trip to the vet, sometimes Fiver’s fur will come out down to velvet like that. Perhaps the stress of the move is just coming out in this shed?
But yah…all three of mine get that downy patch in some places during a molt or shed. It scared me too the first time I saw it, I thought I’d pulled too hard and broken off all the overcoat.
