› FORUM › HOUSE RABBIT Q & A › what games do you play with your buns?
Are there any games that you play with your bunnies that they love? most of the time, i just sit in their play pen and give treats and pats, but i want to play with them. any ideas?
teach them simple tricks. Like hopping through a hoop. That is how I play with my bunny. Or have them go in circles or run back and fourth real fast.
As long as you hold out some yummy food, they will fallow it about anywhere. use their veggies or even their pellets.
My bunny gets really excited for food and the latest ‘trick’ we do is I put a raisin or tasty something in a paper cup an hold it out sideways a good distance away from Bunny and he will run full speed at the cup and shove his head right in to get it. It is so funny.
So just see what your buns like to do.
You need to video tape this
i discovered this accidentally. when i put my hand under one of my buns (she doesn’t like being picked up), she jumped straight up and ran around. i thought she didn’t like it, but i thought it was really funny and cute, so i had to do it again. and again. teehee. but then she kept coming back for more! then she started to binky. *shrugs* it’s funny with my bun since she’s a lionlop, her ears flop every time she jumps up.
adorable!! Ya when I let mine out in a caged off area in the back yard it ran and i thought it was upset then it started to Binky a bunch. Do they Binky sometimes when angry or Never?
i read somewhere they shake their head when they smell something disgusting, so i tried everything to make them do this: morning breath, stinky socks, etc (not mine of course), but they never seemed to mind any smell. one of them also always tries to lick my armpits (gah!). but i’ve never seen my buns binky when mad. they’ll just ignore me and go to their fav spot if i make them mad for any reason (usually nail clips). the only smell that freaked them out was when my bf and i were cooking spaghetti. they completely freaked out. poor babies. but at least it was cute.
thanks because I wasn’t sure
We play this great game… I call them to me. They stay where they are and look at me like I’m crazy. Lol… :o)
At night when we are watching TV I have a little dish of cut up craisins- and to keep Cotton especially from eating all of them at one time- my husband and I pass the dish back and forth and also offer one so she has to streeeetttch to get it. Then eventually I will hide the bowl under the blanket so she gives up for awhile.
Most rabbits would hate this and feel very uncomfortable- but Cotton and my youngest cat will take turns chasing each other around the living room. Scroeder will sometimes play with Pixel too but no as often as Cotton does. Penny HATED to be chased by Pixel- I could tell she was scared and I always made Pixel stop. But the other 2 do not seem scared and will turn around and then chase Pixel.
When Remy’s on the rug in the living room, I get down on my hands and knees and creep up to him and dangle my fingers in front of him. He goes WILD! He either binkies straight into the air, zooms around the room, or pounces on my fingers.
We also have a squeaky toy that I squeeze, and he zooms at it.

LizzieKnittyBun, that sounds so cute!
I remembered another game I play with Bun. It only works if you have a large area to play in though..
I take a treat all the way down the Hall way and call him. He will come not because he is a good boy, but
because he saw me get out the treats! So when he gets to me, I give him a big bite of the veggie/fruit/green and then
I quickly run down the hall, through the kitchen and to the front door. This is all one straight away of about 30 feet.
Then when I see he has finished chewing I call him again and he will run and binky down the hallway and get to me for his
treat. Obviously I then run back down the hallway and do it again and again.
I do it so my Bunny and I both gets some good exercise!
Plus I thought it might teach him to come when called..
but it only taught him to come when I have treats. :/
Ah! I just had *such* a great mental image of a bunny binkying down a hallway!
When Mimzy first arrived and lived outdoors in a shed and hutch, he played hide and seek with me…no joke! ^_^
He would go scuttle around his cardboard boxes and then peek his head up over the top of them. Then he’d see me and duck back down. I took the hint and started calling out, “Wherrrre’s Mimzy?!” Then he would pop his head up again and I’d call “Peekaboo! There he is!” And he’d zoom past with a furious binky, then come back for more.
He’ll still do it now, although he lives indoors, if I take a dishtowel and put it over the top of him. It works a little differently, but he still knows what it means.
And of course there’s always the begging bunny routine, the minute someone says the word ‘cookie’. Pip tries so hard to get her nose through the bars of her pen she almost pries them open. And the other two will dig at their cage doors or, in Mimzy’s case, actually grab them with their teeth and shake them. I feel like I’m in a scene from Cool Hand Luke.

my bun likes to chase me around. and since we’ve gotten the cat she likes to taunt her and get the cat to chase her. at first i thought she was scared, but she binkies every time! and she’s taken to her in a more.. provocative way, lol. she’s started mounting the cat recently. the cat’s very confused.. lol.
and they’re both females!
i have to admit though, the confused face on the cat is sooo funny!
i also play the call my bunny and she stays where she is and looks at me like i’m a nutcase game.
sometimes she does come..but only when my hand is in reach for her to stick her head under for a rub!
and i also make her run up and down the hallway …works better with treats
but then i get tired from running from one end to the other…shows how unfit i am!
My late bunny Nibbles and I use to play tag. She would follow me around the house and then nose me, then I would follow her around catch her by petting her (as soon as I started petting her, she would lay right down). Then she would get up and chase me around again! It was quite fun.. most people didn’t believe me when I told them I played tag with my bunny.
aww cute stories! thanks guys!
