What does this bunny noise mean??

Hello,

I am a new bunny owner of a 7 week old female Lionhead/Dwarf. 

Lately, I’ve been hearing her make this weird noise while she eats and grooms.. it sounds like a dove/pigeon cooing or it sounds like the sniffles. Her nose is not wet, there is no discharge, and we’ve taken her to a vet but she doesn’t make that same noise unless she’s in her own cage or being pet/held by us? At the end of the appointment, our  vet asked that I record her making that sound before he can diagnosis but otherwise he said everything seems normal. She has been usually an active little one -eats well, poops, pees, etc but today was a bit off, didn’t want to do much jumping around and kinda just loafed instead… or maybe she could be grumpy because I took her to the vet again? 

I am worried because it doesn’t sound like “honking” or grunting, or any of the other sounds I’ve been told other bunnies make. 

Anyway, I am going to let my vet hear my recorded version of her cooing.. but until then.. anyone else have any ideas what this means?

as long as it doesnt sound gunky (like fluid or mucous) i don’t think you need to worry.
i think shes just happy when she eats and her breathing gets faster.
nasal cavitys are like musical instruments,, some are just naturally louder, especially Usako when she snores you can hear her across the room

I agree.

I think it’s just a noise that happens when the air is expired sometimes. I hear it with some of mine when eating & when turning around to groom their back. I hear it too when they’re a bit distressed and breathing faster & when excited.

It could also be her little dwarf features and she hasn’t done growing yet.

I agree with the others. My lop makes all kinds of noises when he eats. From sqeaking to humming sounds to piggy noises. He loves food!

Thanks guys. I took her to the vet as she started sneezing a bit and one eye had a bit of redness. The Dr prescribed an antibiotic for the possibility of snuffles in Nahla. She too thinks that the cooing could also be ’cause she’s happy as it happens when she’s eating, grooming, or being pet.
