› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › what color should I paint the “bunny room”
keep in mind this is an apartment. I’m thinking something light & happy & maybe do a bunny border or stencils. Any suggestions? Just painted the livingroom, mostly like a dark indigo and 1 wall a periwinkle"ish". I do have a light green but am debating on making that our bedroom color.
where exactly is the bunny room located? I like the idea of the stencils, you can find very cute ones.
it’s by the kitchen and bathroom but the door is usally closed ,2 windows. is that what you mean?
well yeah, I wanted to get an idea of where you have your bunny, if it was in a storage room, in a big room, in a bathroom, in the kitchen, etc etc, since you said to keep in mind it is an apartment and the colors you have used on your walls, it made me think you have a cage by a wall or that you actually have a “room” for the bun that you would like to match to the rest of the apartment?
well none of the rooms actually match, they are in an extra bedroom. they do have a cage, rocky is free roam and hopefully the other will be before to long. I have a single bed in there 1 dresser and the cages. it’s kinda cramped right now, but will do rearranging when we paint too. the kitch is painted white and has crap woond panneling on the top. the room is mostly closed off though cuz of the cats.
on and reason for that other comment about the apartment, not sure how bold can go with colors that are darker (I do tend tward lighter colors) but my livingroom is now pretty "bold".![]()
I see, since you have an extra room for the bunnies or are planning on rearranging to open up more space I think you should go with either a light color or a warm color, I think a bold color can be too much for a bunny room, what I mean is that colors play an important part in our behaviors, I think a light color would help on keeping them calm, although it will be nice if you can read about what color they can see, because if they can’t see the color you want then I guess there is no point in what I’m saying haha.
About your apartment having a bold color I don’t see the problem, I think it is all up to your personality, you need to use a color you are going to like and are going to feel really comfortable looking at, the good thing is that paint color can always be changed, we all go through different stages in life and if right now you feel like being bold then go for it, you can always change it if you feel like having a lighter color. =)

Interesting articals, funny part of it is I’ve been debating blues & greens. I was hoping for a tranquil look or outdoorish look. lol, so back to my orginal debate between colors now….light blue, light green, jade like green????I was thinking bamboo shades too
if I go for the green!
Oooooh, fun…decorating with color! It sounds like you and I have similar color preferences. In reading the posts here, I have a color idea/suggestion for you of a lovely lighter bluish/green shade like a pale peacock blue/green, or a light aqua color. This is a gorgeous shade that is both uplifting and gentle on the eyes. You can get hints of both blue and green in this type of color choice, and you can accent it with all variations of blue, green, etc.
My bedroom is a light green color accented with a peacock blue in some art choices and our window treatments. I absolutely love it. Our parlor is now "The Bunny Lounge," and is a peachy-pinky-mauvy color. It has lots of dark wood accents and is cheery as well as soothing. We have a 100 year old Victorian-craftsman house so we like to actually use bright, bold, and inviting warm colors that are similar to what might have been found in the home during its original period.
Another very lovely color that is bright, cheery, and opens up a smaller space (especially if you like the look of natural light and want to brighten it) is a pale buttery yellow. A light or subdued lime green is another winning choice. Have fun and let us know what you settle on!
You have me thinking about it and I am already picturing this cute room with a lovely peacock color and some orangey and emerald green carrots as a border, LOL! ![]()
Hmm, I was going to suggest yellow because it sounds like you are into some mexico hacienda/desert gem colors, but after the other posts….. I have a love for dark earth tone colors. My room is olive tree green, cream stone ceiling and one chocolate brown wall for an accent. But since you are in an apartment, like you said, light colors are best. Blue tends to make me fee cold and dark colors can make a room small if there are too many furnishings but also very cozy and cave or den like. How about a nice light bamboo brown? You can bring in some red accents and if you’re into it, check into some feng shui.
At SaveABunny, they have a really wonderful combination. The walls are a cream, soft yellow and the ceiling is pale blue with painted white clouds.
If you want to stay with colors that a bunny may see, then I agree with the shades of earthy greens.
When you are done, you now have to take a picture so we can see!
i think an earthy color theme would be very pretty, and love the bunny stencil idea too!
If I ever get a bunny room I am going to have an outdoor decor painted. Like grass, trees, skies, birds, sun, etc. Lol.
I like green if you want to keep it simple. Green is easy to play with and it feels more natural for the bunnies.
MSBinky that’s actually what I really want to do but not sure how the land lord will feel about it, we’ll be here for a few years though.
one of my bunny friends recently renovated her house and added windows to her bunny room. the contractor couldn’t believe she wanted little windows at floor level, but her bunnies have been thoroughly enjoying seeing the outdoors 🙂 now those are some spoiled bunnies!
lol, yeh I would do that if I were building a house!!!
Gravehearted, that is simply the best thing I’ve ever heard.
I love it when people do right by their animals!
