Hi, everybody, I would like to know what pellets are the best for baby and adult Netherlands dwarfs

I don’t have a rabbit yet but I will hopefully have one by the end of 2020 or the start of 2021 but I have no idea what to feed

please give me some recommendations 🙂 thanks

There are several good brands of rabbit pellets in the UK. It’s difficult to say which is the best one. Oxbow, Supreme Science Selective, Burgess and Versele-Laga Cuni Complete are good brands. For adult buns, and as a snack for junior buns, there’s also FibaFirst with an extra high percentage of fibre.

The most important thing to look for in a rabbit pellet is the amount of crude fibre (insoluble fibre). It should be a minimum of 20%, the higher percentage the better. Moat rabbit pellet brands have special junior pellets for buns up to 5-7 months. The main difference between adult rabbit pellets and junior, is in the amount of protein and calcium. Junior rabbits need more protein and calcium than adult buns.

As I’m sure you know, since you seem to have been doing some research, rabbits should also have plenty of good hay available to them 24/7.

It’s great that you’re seeking out answers prior to committing to a rabbit. I highly recommend going through each of our site’s RABBIT INFO sections. It can be a lot of information, but it is information rabbit owners need to know. In addition to what pellets works best for you, your budget, and location, you will also need to decide on hay and what veggies you’d be interested in getting as well. Hay being the most important and plentiful part of a rabbit’s diet.

thankyou bam this was very helpful with your rabbit how many cups of pellets/hay did you feed him/her now and when he/she was a baby this would be very helpful because all the videos I watch like Lennon the bunny and  101 rabbits etc have adult bunnies not babies

Baby rabbits should be free fed, or nearly free fed. That’s means you top up their pellets bowl when it’s empty. Because young rabbits are growing quickly, they need more food than adult buns of the same size do.
