Forgive me if I’ve posted about this already (the memory is good, just not long! )

We have three baby potbellied pigs at our horse/rabbit rescue (they were pulled off mom way too early and run through auction, so we had to get them!). Jellybean and Meyer are the smaller ones (pure pot bellied) and Churchill is the bigger one (a mix). They are six weeks old now but eating from a dish instead of a bottle. All have been neutered (Suprisingly we found that they must be neutered by three months or they grow tusks and become {and stay} very aggressive)

Here’s pictures of the little piggies! (They are for adoption…. )

I remember my grandparents had pigs when I was little. I think the intention was that they’d be raised for food but it didn’t last long before the grandkids fell in love. They’re such cute little creatures.

How do you guys screen when adopting out edible things like pigs?

They’re so cute, I love pigs cause they’re so darn clever…except when they look at you out of the corner of their eye and you can tell they’re plotting world domination or something similar.

                          They are so smart!!

We screen the same way we always do, lots of conversations first to determine their purposes, their education in terms of ownership, intentions etc. We’re more and less formal then other shelters in that regard. We have much more qualifications that have to be met then others, but we do it in a process that takes time. There are, unfortunately, alot of tire kickers out there!
