So I have been talking to my sister and it sounds like Shiloh has moved for good.. .shes already invested ALOT of money on her which is awesome.. made her a nice big cage like what she had, lots of toys, veggies, exc. but ive been so sad about her being gone so we moved forward with what my husband and i had origionally planned when we started discussing getting a bun for our family.

It has been killing me not to share our exciting news but i wanted to make sure things were set in stone before saying anything. Darren and I had been discussing (long before we even got rain) getting an English Lop. My first bunny growing up was a beautiful broken blk/wht English Lop and she was just amazing, loveable, squishy, bun named Snowflake.. we even dressed her up in doll clothes complete with tied on bonnets, how i wish we had photos of her!.. we knew someday we would get one but had trouble finding one from a credable source, we had talked to dozens of breeders, none of which we were happy with. We had discussed going through LMRR but we knew Rain would have to be spayed before we could adopt from there and we still have yet to get a call back from the SPOT program, even then would they have a young english lop we could raise up to not only be friends with rain but one who would tollerate the handling, cuddling, exc from 4 & 2 year olds. We wanted a young, outgoing, curious, lovable, EL but where to find one? Finally our help appeared from the most unlikely place. I started communicating with one of the volunteers from LMRR and shes given us lots of help with finding our dream bunny, she did all the foot work and research of finding “good” breeders without even asking for anything in return..we finally settled on a breeder who resides in North Florida, were in South Florida.. so with approx 20 phone calls and 50 emails between the breeder and volunteer we put our deposit down on the female of our choice, the deposit cleared our bank yesterday so its official. Sometime in the first week of August we will have our dream bun’ Im waiting to hear back what her exact b-day is but my understanding is that shes 12wks old right now. Of course once she finds her way home I will take a million photos of her and im sure the process will be slow for Rain but im hoping she takes to her the way she took to Shiloh. Without further ado, here are the photos the breeder sent us of her.

im sure you guys can understand my excitment!! We chose her out of two different litters, this one has two other sisters who didnt fit our criteria for personality and a litter of 7 who are barely 6wks old.

              Aaaahhhhh! *faints from cuteness*

What a beautiful bun! Oh there is nothing like loppy ears! And what a sweet face she has! You are so lucky, I would give anything to add such a precious creature to my brood!
How on earth did they get her to sit so still for these piccies? I just get my camera focused and when I look in the viewfinder again there is nobody there!
              She is GORGEOUS!

I think it’s wonderful that you’re getting what you’ve wanted all these years. And hey, they even threw in a baby bunny to go with those ears!
                    (Couldn’t resist LOL)

Seriously, congrats on finding her. Now there are three cousins.

Thanks Beka, we cant wait to have her home

Thanks Pam, its an amazing feeling to finally get the bun we have wanted for so long!! It doesnt even seem real yet. LOL.. I love her huge ears, and yes they did include the bun with them hahahaha. Her photos make her look so sweet! I will add the photos of her female litter mates that we didnt get, there was a REW who according to the breeder is very shy and a broken orange who is very timid.. out of the three it certainly seems like we got the lovey curious girl, even in the photos the other two look frightened. The breeder has spent SO much time working with us, talking to us and giving her opinion on the buns’  and even after i stressed to her exactly what we were looking for shes helped pair us with what she feels is the perfect bun for our family and i couldnt be happier with her choice so far.I really cant wait until shes in our arms though

here are the other two buns we decided against.

they are both beautiful but look so much more frightened

omg i have never seen bunnies with such gorgeous ears, are they a particular breed? or do they just have unusually large ears? lol
                        its so cute!

yes, the english lop (thats the breed) are known for their long ears, if memory serves me they have the longest ears of all the rabbit breeds, french lops are the biggest/heaviest and english lops have longest ears. The breed standard is like 21″ from tip to tip? Anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong. English lops from my experience are the most difficult to come by, many people choose not to have them because they are more prone to have ear problems, including scratched ears, deep ear canals, exc.

Your adopted bun is so beautiful and doe-eyed, I just can’t get over that sweet face!
OMG, I had just been asking recently if there was such a thing as a REW with lop ears, now I’ve seen the proof. Yesm, they look a little shy, but they are still lovely.

I wish someone in Alaska bred these buns. Or the Flemmies. I still feel kind of incomplete without a trio in the house.

Thanks Mimz… i too think she looks like a doe, ive been racking my brain trying to think of the perfect name for her. she just has such a sweet face she deserves a nice name. My first bun was a REW EL, her name was snowflake.. so even many years ago they were around lol… im sorry to hear you dont have someone close by in AK I never understand how any one could function in AK.. seems soooo cold and the daylight/nighttime thing would totally mess me up lol, but then again im in S. Florida which seems a world away from you! I love watching deadliest catch and i know thats filmed near AK. Ive had a very empty feeling since Shiloh went to live with my sister… I cant wait to have the EL in our home, and more so i cant wait until Sunday to see Shiloh again!
