so boston has had vision problems since before i got him , with most things he copes fine but when he drinks he has to feel with his chin to see where it is ( i never move it) and the level etc

but it looks like this ( he only let me see long enough to photo so i cant make out any more than you can exactly what is going on there )

Also he doesn’t eat veggies yet, is a good hay eater, is an indoor bunny, has been to vet 3 times for other things and no sign of teeth issues at those prior visits , I know he tests the water with his chin for sure, he is also only 4 months old

I worry about infection- I can’t be there to wipe it all the time and he hates it wiped

You could try to get him to drink from the bottle, it will be less messy and he’ll be able to tell where the nozzle is without wetting himself. If you’d like to try that, do not remove the bowl immediately but let him find and get acquanted with the bottle, then when he’s comfortable with its position start removing the bowl and check that he’s drinking constantly from the bottle
At 4 months you can start introducing a bit of veggies, too

Mine are on brown diets. It is mainly because of one of mine not being alllowed grass , veges or fruit as all upset his stomach ( he has iss and other gastro issues which mean even a tiny amount of grass gives him runny soft stools then leads into gi stasis )
But after lots of research over the past few months into digestion of bunnies ect and the longest I living rabbits ( owned by a vet nurse ) were thought to have lived so long because of the brown diet bringing less gi stasis and other digestion issues
Hay , oxbow , willow twigs, Apple sticks and water is our bunnies diet.
Not starting a debate I know lots don’t agree – but either way one of mine cannot have it any other way anyway.

Yeah I’m thinking I’ll have to go water bottle – just didn’t want to as I had no luck in the past ( pre the bunny with vision problems ) finding one that didn’t leak !
Guess I’ll be going research water bottles sigh

Ahh, I didn’t know about the special diet, sorry If you’ve written it somewhere else and I’ve missed it! Mine is on a particular diet too, so I understand

I had the leaking problem too, I solved it with some tinkering: I attached a hamster nozzle (the short ones with the big ball inside) to a big rabbit bottle, I think it was a Fop bottle. Then when K recently fell ill I added a Trixie bottle (long, thin nozzle & small ball) and that one hasn’t leaked.

If its just water under his chin I wouldn’t worry tbh. My bunnies get wet chins too. I’d be worried that a water bottle might poke him in the eye or something.

I’ve read that they can get fungi from the wetness… I never had the problem, but if he’s always so wet it might worth trying, he can feel the obstacle with his whiskers too. Then it can be he doesn’t want anything to do with the bottle

I really hope he takes to it as he is soaking wet under there all the time – he sleeps on a fluffy cat bed with rolled sides he rests his chin on so I hoped that dry it a bit since he hates it wiped off by me but it’s not drying it . I wiped it again tonight to his disgust after I took the photo but there is so much hair loss there now it’s drier …
I really hope the bottle fixes it for him

Spent two hours teaching him and in the end he had his very first taste of banana as I had to smear the nozzle with it to get him to drink haha !
                          Now he loves the bottle!!!
                          Chin is completely dry
