Me and hubby went out shopping today and had to buy more ink at Office Max and decided to go to Pet Supply Plus right next to it.  Have to mention that place has the most unhealthiest food for rabbits!  They even sell pine bedding for rabbits.  But I did get a good deal on a small cage when I first got Archie.

Probably wasn’t the best idea because they had 2 bunnies in a hexigon aquarium type cage.  Of course not taken care of properly with a giant bowl of pellets (they don’t sell nutritional kind but at least it didn’t have the colored stuff in it) and a little pile of hay.  One was kind of grayish and bigger, the other one was all black with a little white spot on his forehead.  We were about to leave and I turned around and saw a regular cage with a bunny in it.  OMG it was so cute!  I walked up to it and the bunny yawned and flopped over!  It’s white with brown marks on it.  It was a baby too.  I could tell it to be fed better because there was cecals in one spot and poo that looked more oval in another spot.  I kept giving hubby puppy dog eyes to try to get him to let me buy it but he didn’t budge….plus I knew we couldn’t.    We already have 2 and don’t have enough room for a third one…plus if you get 3, you might as well get 4 haha!  I can’t help but keep thinking about that cute little bun and hope it doesn’t end up dumped on teh street as a left over easter bun.

I told hubby that we’re going to have a hard time come our local fair at the end of Aug..  I hate how they are all in those little 2×2 cages, not cleaned up after, their water is in a little tin can and so is their pellets.  No hay at all.  (maybe that’s how show rabbits are, I dunno?)  And by either the end of the day or last day of the fair, their poo is piled high through their wire floor.  They usually sell a lot of them there too.  Most of them get sold by the end of the fair.  They’re also in with the chickens which I would think if you were a rabbit and you had to hear a roaster 1/2 the time I’d get annoyed.

It is challenging. One of the most hardests things about knowing and loving rabbits – all those who’s futures we cannot know.

I can’t go into the stores that carry bunnies at all. Besides the fact I don’t like to support them with my money, it would make me feel awful for days afterwards to see them.

Hm, I should go check my local stores to see if they’re being buttheads too. I know one that is for certain and gets picketed every year by SaveABunny volunteers.

Yeah, I mostly go into PetSmart.  Pet Supply Plus doesn’t have anything good for a rabbit, it’s disgusting.  I won’t be going back there or at Petland either, good thing that’s further away from me.

I know what you mean… I try to avoid stores that sell bunnies too.  Not knowing their future is hard.  Though the pet store I can walk to that sells bunnies do inform the new owner about their care…. somewhat….  the other petstores that sells bunnies moved and they were real real good about explaining bunny care to people…..         Though I try to avoid them.   Because….. it goes like this…….

Ohh how cute.  Awe. So little awe…  I can make room..    … Now kawthar it is more $ and more work that I dont’ need.  No can’t buy the bunny.  I been through that already and was too much….

We go across the river to the Petsmart over there who do not sell bunnies. …  I buy my stuff there.  That is certainly avoiding the local pet store alright…. lol….   Besides the bigger store that has more stuff for buns and healthy things too is Petsmart.
