Here’s a picture of my beloved border collie Bonus, who has taken very seriously his job as a bunny guard! He stays by Baileys and won’t let any other dog or cat near him. Isn’t that sweet? It’s hard to find Baileys in the picture, but he is there, on the right side.

Do any of your dogs look after your bunnies for you??

aww thats sweet.  my dog is well intentioned with my buns but i still can’t trust him completely unsupervised with them.  mostly for those unexpected events that may crop up like some one coming to the door.   my dog is almost 7yrs old but has the enthusiasm & energy of a 7 month old pup, so he’s likely to trample anybunny in his way when some one’s at the door.  silly goof

he is great at letting me know if the buns are chewing on something they’re not supposed to when my attention is distracted.  he tattles on them.  i swear the look on his face says “hey… why are THEY allowed to chew on that?  no fair!”

Yes my dogs are very protective, sweep is more so than willow, but they are both very warey of who is going near them. Sweep and willow have just had their ‘summer cuts’ because we get really bad fleas going round in about may time, so they have to have their winter coats removed to a) prevent them from getting fleas and B) make it easier to get rid of if they do get them, i wont show a pic of them today as i cut them and they look awful :p

Bunzai, I also have canine vacuum cleaners!! LOL! Kimberley, what breed are Sweep and Willow? Babybunsmum: I do not trust them with Baileys unsupervised either…, you never know. I’ve got 5 dogs, 4 pretty big ones, so I am always there. Baileys is never out of his cage or his ‘private garden’ with the dogs, which is sad, because when I am with the dogs I am not with Baileys, and the other way about. And he HATES being locked in his cage… anyway, I try to spend time with everybody, including my hubby!!!

when I was a little girl once upon a time long long ago……            I did have a dog named cinnamon he would barkn bark when the loose pack of dogs came to harrass the buns. no matter the hour I would even get out of bed and we would chase them off together. goood dog.

my dad built a neat gated enclosure for the buns totally enclosed roof too and we had plastic rolls we would unroll when it would rain hard and be cold and windy etc. to protect them. the dogs couldn’t get in the enclosure that held their cages but none the less cinnamon would bark and we would go chase.

he was a mutt. they are the best.   he wouln’t hurt the buns at all. I coudl let them play together supervised in teh back yard. we had big yard adn I would take a bun or 2 out and play with them.

Oh cute!!! I love all dogs, but I have a soft spot for Border Collies. I have two: Bonus (pic) and Chipa. I train them as shepherd dogs. They are the best. I also have two mixed breeds and a Lhasa Apso (similar to Shit Zu). I ADORE Yorkies, but I cannot have anymore dogs. My hubby won’t let me… and he is right. I have a lot of room and a very big garden, but anyway, I understand that 5 dogs, 2 cats and now 2 rabbits is a lot!!!

I think Bonus is doing a very good job of taking care of his “heard”.

I hear great things about border collies.

Is seems like biger dogs get along well with bunny’s.

My Husky, Nietzsche, was very protective of my cats. I think he would have liked Kay & Winston a lot.

does he have 2 different coloured eyes? i wonder why huskys are prone to that?

For some reason roughly 1/3 of Husky’s have blue eyes – 1/3 have brown eyes – and 1/3 have one of each.

People often asked me if he was blind in the blue eye – Umm, I have blue eyes and I’m not blind!
