So penny is getting slowly more comfortable with me, but i’ve noticed that when she’s walking, her tail is stretched out, facing down. Is this caution? Max’s tail is always up unless he’s standing straight up- i think he lowers it for balance. oh, and her ears are always happy and she’s not mad or anything. thanks friends!

I think that is slightly cautious still. I have a very shy netherland dwarf bunny that also keeps her tail kind of stretched out like that when she walks around, but you can also tell she is being cautious because she kind of tip-toes around, and keeps her back feet stationary and stretches her front feet out to explore things.

My lop, Max, does just like what MooBunnay described. We call him our “cautious hopper”. As she becomes more comfortable and familiar to her surroundings, this may lessen, or it may just be how she is.

oooh okay. thanks! i was curious if she was always going to be shy. she seems to do it less when i’m not in the play pen- like shes still getting used to me. but she’s letting me pet her back now! not her face, though. she flinches haha.

It seems like bunnies with bigger, longer tails use them for expression more than those with stubby ones.
I speak from experience. Sammy’s tail is barely visible.
Spockie had a tail like a 5th foot!

oh my gosh! that is a long tail! penny’s is maybe an inch and a half… stretched out! haha!

                    max’s tail is a lot like sammy’s.

My Sammy has a big long tail..

And ketie  your buns look so cute.  Absolutely adorable.  Hopefully in no time at all she will let you pet her face.  Sounds like you are doing good with them.
