do rabbits sleep with their eyes open?? i can’t tell you how many times i look over and see max flopped over, with his head on the floor, but eyes open and no nose twitching!

Hogeeze…Mimzy does this to me all the time. He can actually be very deeply asleep with his upward facing eye WIDE open and the white showing, and the rest of him will be twitching while he’s in a dream state. Scares the crud out of me. I always have to wake him up to be sure he’s okay.
He must hate me for that….lol. Of course, he returns the favor all night long though. ^_^ “Mom? Are you asleep?” *loud tossing of litterbox*

My buns do this all the time! I have to make some kind of noise so I see their ears twitch or some kind of movement! It scares the bejeezus out of me!

Pepper sleeps sitting up or loafed with her eyes wide open.  The only way I can tell is that her nose isn’t twitching.

After a couple years, most of mine have started sleeping with their eyes closed. My husband also always wakes them up to make sure they are OK! Amelia is our queen at faking “dead bunny” so we have to poke at her a few times a day to make sure she is OK  When my husband starts making loud noises, she opens her eyes a teeny little bit to verify she is alive so that he will stop! (as demonstrated below).  She is not extremely depressed as you might think from looking at her photo, but actually in a pellet coma because she just ate her whole Tablespoon of pellets at once.

that is wierd seeing them with eyes half shut snoozing.  The bunny flop is even scarrier.  I learned to check his breathing if his sides are moving instead of waking them up.

I think they like that better cuz they don’t even notice that

Definitely normal for bunnies to sleep with their eyes open. Moobunnay – Amelia is absolutely adorable- she looks like a toy.

Bunny flops really scare me. My sister walked in to my room where the buns were and came back and said Sir Thumps was dead…..

                                  He was just in a bunny flop. Thank {enter deity (or deities) name here}

I just have to keep reminding myself that it just means he is very happy and comfy.
I always check their breathing but if it’s hard to tell, I make a noise. Still pretty scary, though.

I was wondering that too! Thanks for asking katie!

As for bunny flops… here are a couple of Leroy (sorry they’re a bit grainy, had to take them on my phone) he only does them on the carpet and on that little cat bed

(Didn’t want to wake him up by opening the door)

                                       “WHAT mom ?!”

                                    c

                                      “Can I help you?”

Personally, I love seeing pictures of people’s fuzzy babies

Lucy sleeps with her eyes open all the time. I’ve taken to looking at her nose. If her nose isn’t twitching much, she’s out cold.

My Jessica has always been an eyes open sleeper–  used to freak me the heck out.  I thought I made her super anxious so she was always on alert looking for me.  Leo does a 1/2 eye open sleeper.  I also vote him as one of the best floppers.  Occasionally he will do this in his litterbox.  The first several times that happened I immediately poste on BB that I thought he had a stroke or something.  Bunnies sure make you feel stupid sometimes.

Bunnytowne:  Is that a crown on Ruby’s head?  I’m getting those “forty-year old” eye problems

Leroy & Lucy:  What an awesome flops, super cute.

Pinup Girl:  I love the pic w/ the cat & bunny.  Mine seldom get that close to each other so it makes me happy to see.

Mimz:  I think if I didn’t have DH, I would really be the crazy pet lady.  I fall in love pretty easily and have to always keep my heart in check.  It seems that you always find some pet that needs a lil’ tenderness in their short lives.  I agree “crazy pet lady” is the ultimate compliment.

Pet pics:  You always have to find the right people to view your pics, else it’s like showing people your 300 pics of Junior learning to use the potty.  I find pet pics to be so much more interesting that people pics.  But nothing is as wonderful as baby animal pics!
