I’ve always assumed the ceco preparation and follow-up posture has to do with what is comfortable for the rabbit as their GI finishes ejecting out the cecotrope. Cecotropes are fermented in their body and then come out from the same place as their normal poo, so presumably there is some sort of internal trigger that they may be reacting to and therefore taking that position. Anecdotally, I know many rabbits eat cecotropes during nap time, so perhaps it’s them just being a bit tired as well.

Yep, my buns sit like this too when they are about to eat a cecal or eating one. I always compare it to when I sleepily stumble to the toilet in the middle of the night 😆  LOL
