Weird nipping behaviour

My boyfriend and I just adopted a Rex last week – her name is Lissy and she is spayed, about 1.5 years old.

She seems to be warming up to us really well – lots of flopping, licking, she likes us to pet her etc. and she’s generally a very sweet bunny! But sometimes she has these odd spells – her whiskers start twitching, her eyelids are visible and sort of flutter, and she starts insistently chasing our hands and nipping at them repeatedly. She doesn’t seem afraid when she does this (she’ll come over to us and start it), we’re not trying to pick her up or doing anything else that I think would cause her stress – she usually initiates the contact. She kind of seems like she’s having fun with it, but I thought that the twitching/eyelid fluttering was a little unusual.

Does anyone’s else’s bunny do this? Is it territorial behaviour? Is she trying to play?  We shriek when she nips us and she’s stopped doing it except for this. I’ve started putting her away when she does it and letting her out again after a few minutes.

Hmm. Kind of sounds like she’s trying to play. Squeal when she nips so she knows she’s hurting you and maybe get her some sort of toy she can do that with instead of your hands. Cat aisle shopping might be good if that is a game she likes.

do wat your doin with putting her away! thats perfect! and i agree try giving her toliet baby roles and mabye a willow ball to throw around and nip at my baby bunny loves it
