And I mean weird. I somehow arrived at my parents house Sunday night with a rabbit and supplies in tow. I’m not quite sure how that happened, I’m blaming the bunny. (Now don’t worry, long time experienced owner of many animals including a rabbit.)
Anyway, the point: I have never had a house rabbit before. Smudge and I stayed over and then we had to come back to my house the next day. He rode in a large box with what was my dog/car fleece blanket.
He naturally peed all over it but he seemed really relaxed in there so I left it in his cage when we got home.
It’s now Sunday and he is completely “litter” box trained to a single corner with part of “his” blanket on it and one of those little dog pee pads underneath. Entirely by his own choice. He started by always dropping pill poops in that corner and once I padded it it was officially the bathroom spot
Is this normal?
is it problematic? He doesn’t go on any other blankets, pillows, rugs, corners, etc. I know the teenage time might be a problem, but how about as an adult?
I don’t want to switch his “litter” on him too soon, he’s still settling in and getting to trust me, but I was thinking if I got a litter pan and had some litter in it on topic of his blankie he might be more inclined to slowly switch over. It stinks! To get it clean I have to soak in vinegar and then double wash on sanitize. I don’t want my apartment to smell this bad, but I don’t want to disturb Smudge’s awesome transition.
