Hi guys, our 8 month old rabbit has a red splotch on the outer eye with what appears to be white puss in the cornea. We’ve taken him to the vet and they were unsure what it was so they’ve put him on oral antibiotics, Metacam and Fenbendazole for now. He’s been on this for the last two weeks and while the inflammation has gone down the white puss has become more apparent. Has anyone seen this before?

Fenbendazole, seems like they also are treating for suspected EC as well to be on the safe side. Do you have a picture? It’s hard to say what it could be without a picture. I would still bring him back to the vet or send them a photo.

Sorry Ryan, I think I was deleting your duplicates while you were editing the duplicates and I have now accidentally deleted the post that had your actual content in it…..

@blackbunny – To add a picture, make sure the picture is in a png or jpg format (I believe both are accepted). You will add the picture file as an attachment to your post. If you receive a message about file size, the photo is too big, so you can shrink it using Paint or any other photo editing application you may have. Once it accepts it, wait a couple seconds and the file will pop up in your Attachments list. Click the “Insert Picture” button to put it in your post! This needs to be done on a computer — phones don’t work well with posting on this site.

To add a picture to a previous post, you need to press the edit button on that post first.

To attach pictures to a post you otherwise have to reply by pressing the “reply” button. Only then will you see the Attachment option below your post.

I will send you a PM with my private email address if you can’t make uploading a pic work. Then I can upload it for you. (I don’t want to post my email address openly on the forums because spam bots trawl sites for email addresses).

Does your bun’s eye look anything like the picture in this article? This is called a phacoclastic uveitis. It’s often seen with e cuniculi, but it can have bacterial causes. For EC you treat with Panacur (fenbendazole), for bacterial causes you treat with antibiotics.
